Because until 1.18, that's about the only thing fun to do with this game.

auto-attack made for much more interesting gameplay in FFXI... SAY YES TO AUTO-ATTACK! More like XI less like WoW KTHXBYE KIDS
This thread is still alive?
No offence intended but forums are made for people to discuss, if you dislike people talking in forums, you are more than welcome to not read it.
I guess not enough people said no. If I wanted to buy FF 11, I would have bought FF 11.
I didn't because it was sluggish and felt like I was barely playing the game.
This auto attack is awful. I simply can't stop raging about it.
They could have at least made it OPTIONAL.
Now if I target an enemy the game decides that it's time to attack it even without my say.
I feel like that kid that got the x-box only to open it up and the box contained clothes.
I bought 14 and they're slowly turning it into a game I passed up because it wasn't fun to me.
I have to agree with this. Not the "rage" part, but just a general kind of displeasure. I had tried to reserve my judgement on this issue until I got my hands on the system. Having fussed around with it? This is a step backwards. I don't know why removing input from the player was seen as a positive direction to travel in. I liked setting my own pace in battle. I liked managing my own TP gain. I liked being able to react with increased or decreased output of whatever it was I was doing as the situation evolved.I guess not enough people said no. FFXIV team, your game mechanics have never been the problem. They were just different. The problem with FFXIV has been a lack of content. You made an incredibly pretty world, filled it with some excellently animated and realized characters, and then you gave me nothing to do in it.
Should you have simply opted for more content? You would've had my subscription fee for at least as long as XI had it (about five years or so). Now? Your game doesn't offer me anything that I can't get somewhere else. And those other venues have had much more time to populate their worlds with things to do.
It's unlikely to happen, but here: Roll back the combat changes. Or at least give me a choice between using the active stamina system, and using the auto-attack you've rolled out.
agreed. The battle mechanics were never a problem. Lack of content was. We love final fantasy because of the story and awesome graphics. Add more content quests, like the main story quests, real time cutscenes, voiced npcs, cutscenes. Add content. Roll back all this auto attack crap, all the stupid mp changes and make improvements to the target system. The way this goes, a whole bunch will quit even before it gets a fee.
Exact opinion my friend and I have had. I held this idea as soon as the auto-attack video was shown, even. I'm just wondering how long it'll take before people realize that this makes things a lot more boring and generic, and complain for another overhaul (I give it about a month).I have to agree with this. I felt/feel same way but you got ffxi lovers who will support the game as long as it's like it.Exact opinion my friend and I have had.
