Nice this thread is still going. For some reason it's my favorite one to read and jump into from time to time.

Just to clarify, unlike the World of Warcraft forums, which require an active subscription to post (at least until they go F2P), FFXIV:ARR's forum lets you post even if your subscription is up and automatic renewal has been suspended. I've been out of the game for about a week now and can still post. So it cannot be assumed that a person posting on the forums is still actively supporting the game.
I believe this is done so that players have time to post their concerns about the game, since many people might not get a lot of time to visit the forums prior to their subscription time running out.
Anyway, toodles and many moogles to all my buddies out there still playing! I'll be back eventually!

You had better luck than I did. I didn't take down how many fates it took me for my SCH Atma, but it was 361+ (forgot record first two Atma) for Ninja. But Animus is the most time consuming part of the relic anyway. At least, that was the case before 2.28 happened.I believe, good sir, you have thereby been succinctly torched.
I did -maybe- 300 total FATEs. Got my weapon.
Even just occasionally popping in to FATEs on my down time with BLM, more than 1/2 to my second one.
Not to say the game is flawless.
But the people who enjoy the game are in the game. Enjoying it.
Not rrraging on the forums because they want a different game.
Although, I'm not sure if you were replying to reddit guy or my comment about how slow that guy is. I'll assume the former.![]()

I apologise if this has already been covered somewhere in the previous 20 pages of posts (I skimmed), but in my opinion the most urgent thing that needs to be done with FFXIV:ARR is to stop supporting PS3. I'd sorta love them to go back and 'fix' everything already done so that we can see what the game could and should look like (the 'crowd' in the final cutscene after ultima for example), but I would understand if they don't.
The game doesn't feel epic at the necessary moments. I don't know how many times a cutscene that you'd expect lots of people to be in had only a handful. I was in Limsa Lominsa earlier on an upper level and happened to look down and notice the empty walkways. I was in Syrcus Tower and noticed that the place is split up into different zones - all thanks to PS3.
Please, please, please can't they just kill off the PS3 version? Don't they allow a free upgrade to the PS4 version anyway? (I'm assuming that everyone has the capability to buy a PS4)
Until Square's user base all migrate onto the PS4 in swarms, don't expect the PS3 version be shut down anytime soon.
I think it was a mistake to bother with the playstation at all. They've tied their own hands with that move, and while I appreciate choice, I appreciate value even more. MMO games are just better suited to a pc platform where you have a lot of configuration options and everyone is on a level playing field. We may never see add ons because of playstation. We may always have content limitations because of playstation. We may never see native UI enhancements beyond what we have because of playstation. It's really... disappointing.
Square Enix's customers are primarily console gamers. Why would they make FF14 PC only?
This. If they were to make it pc only. They would actually push away a massive chunk of their own playerbase. Outside the US and Korea, PC gaming is no where near as popular. Even in XI if look at the breakdown of pc/vs console the console market made up nearly 50% more in Japan. I would not be surprised if 30-40% of the subs in XIV are console right now.
