.
Much of this is my own personal opinion, I urge you please look at the bigger picture of what I'm trying to say rather than nitpick examples from my personal disappointment with SE's developmental choices.
Just about every patch has come with some seriously major sting which keeps harming much of the player base's opinion of you & slowly teaches them to have very low expectations or no longer trust you.
You need to be Very Careful here-forward, SE.
Between Atma (FATE Grind), Hunts, Personal Housing, Win-Trader's Den & more... you're often leaving many players feeling you're either putting very little effort in or that everything you implement is like an after-thought.
I feel like nearly all players would be much happier with you if you didn't feel the need to "rush out" content. Instead of using excuses like "we can't fix Chocobo's during Queue or Clipping Issues without sacrificing manpower for New Content", you should SLOW YOURSELVES DOWN & win-win by giving us both a) what we want & b) better devised implementations.
Take more time on the drawing board or polling your players or saying yes than worrying you have to blitz content on us only to fail because you didn't pause & think "players will hate to FATE Grind subject to low True RNG" or "players on PS3 will be pissed when they're jacked out of credit for Hunts b/c they're invisible" or "you know, we've had 9 months, we should probably clarify about Personal Housing being identical to FC Housing & the pricing actually being virtually the same".
Also things like Chocobo Training, such promise but you made it into a few-click thing even though the videos caused many to presume it would be a fun interactive mini-game... resulting in disappointment.
Or how about Desynthesis which was described as a fun, skill-based system which turned out to be... yet another few-click wonder which took no skill whatsoever.
In other words, please treat our expectations appropriately & be more careful to not make empty promises in doing so.
Don't tell us to look forward to things if you're not going to deliver, if the system is going to be a lackluster point-and-click, or when you pitch something as new & exciting but in actuality it is merely a rehash of prior content.
Instead of failing us, you could be winning by pressing harder more for the things we want with your time (like Musketeer) than the things we don't or didn't ask for.
As well, you could be much more efficient if you make the things we do want not so unnecessarily complicated (Chocobo Dyeing). I think the dyeing system is neat personally, but I would've much rather taken a simplified version if it meant you put more of your chips into ensuring Hunts worked or current systems were more interesting (FATE's) or implementing more things we've asked for (like Individual Gardening Access for All).
Idk... this' a huge rant but honestly you guys worry me with the path you're spiraling yourselves down. I loved this game in the beginning but you keep mistreating it & taking 1 step forward/3 back.
Seriously... just don't screw up on the Gold Saucer. Make it rich, don't make it watered down or a point-and-click failure. Things will turn bad to worse if you mess that up.
Also, if this really is a theme park MMO in your minds... STOP burdening us with things like Atma (improve the drop rate already) or the high cost of Personal Housing. Make the game more enjoyable & fun, less dull & encumbering please.
I urge you to reevaluate your design philosophy Yoshi; I dare you to dig much, much harder into what your player-base wants rather than presuming we'll enjoy things like FATE grinding or your version of rehashed Personal Housing.
