    I don't care if people want to watch cutscenes, but at the same time I'm not going to wait at the start of every boss until they're out. Fair compromise as far as I'm concerned.

    That is not a fair compromise. Locking the 1st-timer out, you are also destroying their continuity in their story. The trash mobs don't matter, but the boss fights do. And when you intitate boss fights, they get all sorts of out of context text in the middle of their cutscenes. This is just an indirect way of harassing them to skip the cutscenes.
