I'm thinking of starting back on the storyline quests and hang up the DoH and DoL stuff for a bit so I can get higher level areas for leves but I'm confused on the dungeons now. Theres the DF which I know but theres a PF? and roulette? I haven't done any dungeons past level 25 and I'm gonna be the newbie so which way should I que up for dungeons that will give me the best chance to be able to watch cut scenes without making the elites all angry and want to kick me? Which one gives them a bonus for me being a firstie please?

DF is the Duty Finder. You queue up and it will throw you into the dungeon of your choice with a random group of people from your server and other servers. You'll have a Tank, Healer, and two DPS. If its a 8 man dungeon you'll have 2 tanks, 2 healers, and 4 DPS.

PF is the Party Finder. You can use this to form a group from members of your server only. Its just to help form the group. It can be used for dungeons or Fates or just about anything a group can do together. They will use the DF to get into a dungeon, but since its a preformed group, there is no queue as long as its a full group for the dungeon (4 or 8 players).

Roulette is a daily bonus to doing dungeons in the DF. You get a random dungeon and get extra exp, gil, and later (50) mythology tomestones. Great way to get a stack of exp for a leveling character. At first only the low level duty roulette is available. At 50 you can unlock the others.

To bring you on subject. The Main Scenario Duty Roulette is there to entice more people to do the two story dungeons Castrum Meridium, and Praetorium (the dungeons we are talking about). These dungeons do not reward gear from bosses. It is just a story thing with cutscenes and interesting bosses. But they have to be completed to finish the main story quest (which opens up the rest of the game, the end game if you will). So in order for the queues to be shorter for newbies. They gave a main scenario duty roulette to allow vets to run these dungeons again for a reward.

The issue at hand is they don't typically like watching cutscenes and will skip them to continuing clearing trash mobs and in some cases, bosses. All the while the newbies are still watching the cutscenes. Some people are jerks and will vote kick the newbies out of the dungeon for watching them. Some are jerks because they don't like some veterans clearing ahead.

For people like me, I compromise and let the vets clear ahead, WHILE the newbies watch the cutscenes, when I run these dungeons. The dungeons are pretty easy enough that they don't require all 8 people to be present for all of the encounters. And only a few boss encounters will lock a newbie out if they were in a cutscene while the boss was initiated. But the two important boss fights put the newbie in the arena when they are done watching. Which is Gaius and Ultima Weapon. I also give advice that helps the newbies in such boss encounters. So far its worked well.

And it works well enough to make both sides happy ingame (which is what matters, as forum opinion is vastly different then what I see ingame) as I tend to get 3-6 commendations for explaining my point and letting everyone have their cake, so to speak.

Thank you : ) Im at 32 with WHM so I know finding runs won't be a problem but I quit doing the storyline at toto rak (because of jerks) so that's where I'll be starting the battle class up again. Guess I don't have to worry about most of that stuff till I get to 50 but thanks again for clearing it up for me <3

"It's not the destination it's the journey"

No offense but who cares about how many comms you get? We're not all cut from the same cloth, I enjoy cutscenes as well as earning them. I do not like being carried/coddled by you or anyone for the matter. That said, I keep my feelings out of DF, if I want the type of run -I- like I find means of getting it that does not involve this "compromise" nonsense you keep spouting.

Also you said this has nothing to do with the very people who made said content as it is??? What??? Users might be partially to blame but SE is just as much at fault for fostering. And for the record your a tank a tank who explains and lets them watch at that.. You are bound to get comms based on those three facts solely. The same applies to anyone else doing baby content.

Who cares? The Three to Six people that grant them. I helped the newbies learn the dungeon and they had fun. I let the vets have their quick dungeon. Everyone was apparently happy. You're the only one throwing a fuss. Someone who ISN'T a newbie with 3 classes already to 50. So don't try to fool anyone. Lodestone always tells the truth.

SE didn't create the problem. People like -YOU- did. What have you done to help newbies? I even helped one in this thread. You didn't do that. And I don't coddle them. They got to do the work. But trash that is going to die in 3 holys isn't going to challenge them. Helping the group get Ultima Down before the explosion is helping. Which they all do.

As for getting them as a tank... wow you might want to look at my lodestone profile. My highest level tank is 43 or 44. I can't do those dungeons yet on my tanks. But yeah, mostly as a healer. But I have gotten up to 4 or 5 in Praetorium as a DPS. So like I said, it may not mean anything to you here on the forums. But it means something to the people in game. And that's all that matters.

You don't make friends and allies when you're a jerk to one side over the other. You just polarize the community. SE didn't do that. People like you did. Stop being part of the problem and be part of the solution.

Oh so much assumption on your part. You ask me why I feel how I do and when I tell you you call me a jerk..? Meanwhile I already told you I keep my preferred play style to myself implying I DO help out the newbies and go with whatever method people are comfy with. Once again though that to me is not a compromise and SE did create this issue, players are apart of the mess made. You solution is not a solution because there isn't one to be had and your coms prove nothing. So you do it on a healer? Big woop change the wording of what I said and the results are the same.

The JOURNEY to me to get to the cutscene is the enjoyable part (yes that's right killing the adds and making it to the boss) and there is no fault in that. There is no fault in not wanting to be carried and have work stripped from you. We're not all black and white in our feelings, I differ from the norm I know this. Which is why I TOLD YOU why I feel how I do.

Btw I never said I was new...?
