Why are you all still playing if the game has gone south so hard? I would be gone ASAP if I felt the same way as the responses I've been reading.

There is plenty I do appreciate, it's just that it's going downhill quickly with every patch is all. Would like to save the game I originally loved before it's too late. Sadly, it's now hanging on by a thread in my mind so this' sort of my last ditch effort to get the Dev's to open their eyes.

Because despite all the disappointments people are still hoping SE can pull out of their current perceived slump and bring this game back to the feeling that made people play it at launch. I feel a lot like the initial post's point, SE is very good at hyping up content and presenting things in order to make them look good. The problem is they absolutely -fail- at delivering even a half of what people expect them to, or when they do deliver it's inexplicably locked behind some overly convoluted system like Chocobo Dyeing.

There are many things I still enjoy in the game, but I am skeptical as to how long I will continue to play if I don't see what I consider improvements to some fundamental design or content decisions in the future.

If they are playing, they got no time to add features. If they are adding features, they are obviously not playing it!

Are you trying to suggest they should be playing instead of developing? That incredibly silly and short sighted. If they weren't releasing content at the pace they have the game would have petered out by now due to lack of content. This is a simple fact no one here seems to want to acknowledge. I'm sure everyone here would have loved to see this go the star wars route and end up chopped up in a terrible free to play setup like it has.

Not to you but as a response to this thread in general I add this. Not everyone agrees with what is said here especially coming from people who have no idea what developing a game is like, what software development is like, or any of the intricacies in those tasks. It's easy to sit here and go "god they should have just done this" when you have no idea what you're talking about. I'm a software developer and you'd be surprised how often I've heard the phrase "why don't you just..." when a person requests a feature. Those people only make such simplistic statements because they have no idea what it takes to do what they're asking for or what it will take to accomplish. Just like many people in this thread. Armchair devs. Suggesting ideas is one thing, but to sit around acting like everything should be obvious the first time or that the changes suggested are easy or quick to implement is showing just how little people here understand what they are talking about at all. Especially consider the tone of many responses here. So disrespectful.

Whenever I think about SE's approach to releasing new content I can't help but feel like a horse on a carrot, except everytime I finally come within reach of the carrot the rider instead feeds me some rancid, rotting eggplant or something and then says "Sorry I couldn't give you that carrot, server limitations and all. You'll get the carrot eventually though, please look forward to it".

It tends to be like the story of the Monkey's Paw. You get your wish but....

Because the game is still pretty good as an FF game. If we just think about it as a mainline title, I throughly enjoyed myself through the entire storyline, and the primals are really cool and so are their themes. The music and graphics are also great. I have a lot of respect for Yoshi P with all the love he has for the game and how much effort he's put into the game.

There's just a lot of stuff I also dislike/disagree with, and almost all of it has to do with the pacing, scaling, limitations of the game beyond 50+. Still a good game. Still the best FF game in a long time. Just...a lot of stuff that bothers me in the end game, and while I'll always enjoy the main quest, exploring the world in the expansion, fighting primals and doing dungeons, etc, I just think Square right now is completely dropping the ball on the end game content. The game is designed by humans and no one's perfect. I just think there's a lot, and I do mean a lot of improvements needed to be made towards the activities the game provides during the endgame.

If these 3 month patches are just going to be "gear treadmill upgrade+ new coil" and "catch up patch" then these three month patches might be doing the game more harm than good. 2.0 endgame, especially the relic quest and 4 man dungeon balancing, were designed a lot better than what the game has given us since. I realize people still ran out of things to do by the end of 2.0, but...I don't know, I'm not a dev and I don't pretend to be one. But gear treadmills, tedious fate grinds and wiping progress every 6 months isn't the answer, I don't think.

Believe it or not..some people are using the forum as the dev's claim for its intended use, trying to communicate with them with their constructive criticism and ideas. How do you know how often these people are playing?

You don't.

Some people still have hope and try to communicate with them before giving up completely. =P

You can know the cost of something and still ask for it. Certainly not knowing what you're asking for makes a harder argument on why you think it should be done- but their comment doesn't exclude asking. And it is not safe for them to assume that everyone here is ignorant, nor you.. Most of us have jobs in order to pay for the game, you'll never know what profession/schooling and hobbies you've ran into until you've asked.

Although I'm not quite sure which part Tiggy is referring to people not knowing what they are asking- this thread is pretty encompassing so.. a lot of stuff sitting on the table lol.

I believe he meant they don't know what it takes development wise.
