The problem with the line 'never use to complete your role' is a sticky one given there's several Job whose weapons have nothing to do with their roles. Scholar and White Mage aren't great examples given you rarely run up to smack things. A better example is Bard. A Bard's role is defined as support given that the majority of a Bard's abilities... have absolutely nothing to do with attacking. Bards get one attack, Rain of Death. That's it. At level 30 they get Mage's Ballad, 35 Foe Requiem, 40 Army's Paeon, 45 is when they get their one attack and at 50 they get Battle Voice which is just a buff to the first three abilities. "What are you talking about, Bards get a whole slew of attacks between 30 and 50!" No, archer gets a whole slew of attacks between 30 and 50. All of a Job's abilities are quested, with one gained at every quest. So really a Bard could perform it's role without ever firing an arrow. I don't see Musketeer being much different in this regard, assuming they go with a support role.
