After thinking about it a bit, I have to wonder if YoshiP really made the comment that he thinks players that don't spend their time earning gil are just "lazing around" or if that is just the OP's personal feelings coming through in the report. I really hope that isn't YoshiP's attitude toward us. It's just condescending.
I thought about my average day in the game, and while I don't devote much time to actively earning gil, I DO spent a LOT of time accomplishing PvE related content. I'm actively working on a relic. I do my daily roulettes. I bang my head against t5 whenever I see a PF for it. I am always in the towers. I will hit up a hunt if the horde is in the zone I'm in. I'm working on improving my character.
I don't feel that I am in any way, shape, or form a "lazy" player. I accomplish things in game. I have several jobs at 50 and geared, and the rest are slowly coming up as I have time. I am trying to work in some crafting, but it's just not a big interest of mine. I don't want to play an economy mmo. I don't think all day about how to scam the AH and make money. I think about how to beat Twintania with a pug. I don't sit there and watch my piles of Gil grow. I get out into Eorzea and save the realm like a good adventurer is supposed to.
And at the end of it, I'd really like a small slice of the world to return to when it's all over. Check a plant or two. Say good night to Chococabra. SE keeps adding housing "options" to the game, but all of them have fallen so short of the mark it's not even funny. Considering how low the target was set, it's baffling that it could be this big a failure. It's not like this is their first mmo ever. They helped define the idea of player housing over a decade ago, and a good chunk of us who were asking for it had "Mog Houses" - sweet and simple - in mind.
XI was really bad with how much emphasis they put on catering to the crafting\gilmaking crowd and I never imagined it could ever get any worse, but here it is. The producer is calling players who actually want to experience the adventure part of the game lazy.
