Um, we got 2.0 because the game failed, it was a money sink, and in an effort to generate revenue, they decided to get rid of the team and start new. That is simply business, you can't compair anything from 1.0 to anything of 2.0. It's run differently, has a new crew to make decisions, and a completely new style. Now, if you went in and said all the things they said about 2.0 to now, that would be much more relevant. There are a great many things they said they would do, and then did not since the re-release. After they were caught with their foot in their mouths, they no longer try to make too many statements about the future of the game. It would be safe to assume your novus work will NOT be reset for the simple fact that it's purposely a long quest that even a new person to the game will have to put a lot of effort to maximize, it's customizable, which gives any player a connection to a work of art that THEY created to fit THEIR style of gameplay, and it WILL be the BiS at some point. The game is still in it's infancy stage. Expect to see a lot of changes, balancing, and redesigning (on a smaller scale than the 1.0 to 2.0).

I'm very happy they went with letting us customize the stats. As for eventual BiS, I think it's a bit premature to predict at this current time. It won't bother me if it's not BiS; I'd only be bothered if they discontinued/ended Relics and introduced a new category to replace it for future progression. Regardless, I love my Curtana and will continue to work on making it into what I myself want in the future.

On what would you spent this millions of gils if you don't buy a "perfect" Novus ? It's not like there's this much expensive stuff to buy.

If you're floating in gil with nothing to spend it on, do whatever you want.

But if you're not, pentamelded jewelry, housing, growing/buying chocobo fruit & food, helping friends who aren't as good at making $$, saving in anticipation of whatever the next big gil sink is? Those are decent enough reasons to keep a few million gil over blowing your entire savings on a benefit you're likely to never notice.

And that's only if you have the millions of gil on hand and aren't talking about going out of your way to generate it.

Um... excuse me? I never said I think they're going to reset it? All I was saying is we literally have no way to tell what will be BiS in the future. I was even trying to say I support your statement about relic reflecting the player's style of play.

I went Parry +30, Acc +23 on sword, then Parry +12 and Acc +10 on shield. Basically, I split evenly between the two up to tier III then filled the rest with Battledance IV.


Some like it this way, and as others stated, they'd go for for something else.


Another path I could have taken was full ACC, then the rest split between DET and CRIT. As others have said, and with I'll agree upon, since we have the higher ACC requirement, it's imperative that you put ACC into it at the very least up to tier III, to allow flexibility with future gear upgrades.

Not imperative in the slightest. Even at this tier, one of my FC's tanks had 590 acc in Coil 2 gear. That's waaaaay over what even you'll need for the 3rd Coil in 2.4. Itemization for accuracy will be easy even with zero ACC on your curtana or shield.

And maxing crit/det on your Novus is waaaaay more than 2-3 dps. Not sure where a previous poster pulled that number out of.
