Rogue/Ninja Starting Class?

Wow, I didnt expect this much debate over it. I like some of the back and forth and the ideas coming out of this. Keep on discussing but try to keep it civil.

The one thing I think will be the end results is the class available from the chr select screen and the job at level 30 like all the others. Reason being is Yoshi-P saying he felt this was missing from the release of the game. I don't know the "how or when" of it, as in lore wise, but it will be there.

recheck all the video of the 2.2 quest line, please, it's clear, but well...
Yugiri clearly say that she will be the one to teach the adventurer, when you escort her to the thief, they clearly don't let you in, they only let yugiri... because she have a fighting style close, i don't see them suddenly accept all the adventurer of eorzea when they try to be a secret guild!

Yugiri isn't a dev, because she says a thing it doesn't mean that it will be true.
Yugiri might not be the rogue/ninja master.

you think SE isn't gonna introduce rog/nin from the beginning, just because YOU have waited for a year? really?
what makes you so sure new players haven't waited for a year? maybe they didnt start playing because there was no ninja...
but maybe you're entitled to nin, because you actually played the game for a year, and they didnt?
maybe they should add ninja as a reward for subscribing for a year instead? that would be fair?

It's one of the things that I truly want to see....how they'll solve the time paradox of having Yugiri arrive in 2.2 story quest and they even went as far as telling us that she'll be the one to teach us the NIN ways.

The most logical choice would be, you have to get to that point or beyond of the main story for NIN to become available to you...(which of course would suck for new players)
If they want to allow "new" lv30 players becoming NIN while they haven't even beaten Titan NM, I really hope they can come up with a great story or plot twist.....NOT something among the lines of "here, there is this second awesome NIN who's just happen to be here for you to meet".....that's a deux ex machina resource and is usually sign of bad writting.

I guess depends of the work/resources involved?....kinda seems like coming up with a good plot twist should be faster & cheaper than re-writting and re-recording all the 2.1 and 2.2 storyline.

Some people just actually like consistency when it comes to the story and flow of the world. "Echo" already is such a jarring element, at least let the story remain consistent

Wouldn't that cause a paradox? I mean, say you're a new character and you level up Rog/NIN first. You're a NIN when Yugiri is talking about teaching Eorzeans how to be ROG/NIN...but you're there already a NIN....

That's just one of those things you have to live with in MMOs for the sake of gameplay.

Exactly. Each class/job already has their own storyline that follows it. Since its a secret society I dont see why it couldnt have been there all along, lurking in the shadows. Via the class quests you could be introduced to the Domas earlier than the story mode does.

it could be restricted for now due to the 2.0 story arch but could be made available from the starting choices once 3.0 hits. The event that ends the 2.0 story could be a catalyst for many changes. Fact remains, we simply don't know.
