Strange how "back in the day" is always used as a meter for how doing dated content is in the modern era.
Back when atma first came out, the situation was pretty much like it is in the video, have you forgotten? I told everyone I knew as well in the forums that that was the best time to do atmas, because all you needed was to get enough credit for bronze and move on to the next. I pretty much got 12 atmas in less than a week doing that. But people chose instead to complain and 2 months later when everyone finished their atmas, they were stuck to do the fates by themselves. Who else to blame but themselves?

I will stand defend the position i took regarding the atma 5 months ago. RNG is required in an mmo, so long as its in moderation and not excessive.

So need 118 <1% drop rate items isn't excessive?

And no I am not exaggerating. Atma farming shouldn't have been success for only the first two months after they came out. It needs to be balnaced so that even people stuck doing fates alone in a zone because maybe the only time they can log in is off peak and no one else is doing fates so they ahve to solo boss fates in a zone and maybe get 4-6 fates in per hour can ideally get an atma wihthout spending a month there.

Nope, go organize your own personal horde of several dozen players and march upon those FATEs, that's how it was intended to get your atma, no?

Considering that atma was one of the few rng mechanics in the game and the only rng in the relic quest line at the time it was released (admittedly it has increased drastically since then), I would say no. And from the people I know in game and those I see walking around, it does not seem to be a problem for them too.

This I will agree with, and its unfair for new players who just started the game, though I'm not sure how they can implement this as everyone is sick of doing fates already. If you want a suggestion, I suggest you wait till 2.4 where everyone will invariably use fates to powerlevel ninja. It would be a good time to farm for your atma then.

I did my Atma grinding back when Zerging Fates was the norm. Took a bit (got hung up in E Than, and didn't really do it non-stop, maybe an hour or two a day) but I got all mine in a reasonable amount of time.

I had two friends who just came back to the game do Fates non-stop last weekend and both got all 12. Think they're on Book 6 or 7 now too.

I know some who haven't gotten anything in hours of grinding, and some who *say* they've done hours and hours of grinding but really haven't. I also know some people who can't pass T5 or the EX Primals because they constantly screw up mechanics, saying the fights are unfair because they don't want to learn them, just overgear them.

I see a ton of people with Atma or better weapons. Still more than people with Sol weapons.

The tons of people you see with better weapons than atma, such as soldiary, more than likely skipped atma because better weapons ARE available that take significantly less time and don't leave you on your knees praying to the rng gods.

Aye, I'm a returning player and coming back hearing all these atma horror stories. So I just straight up skipped atma for the soldiary weapon.

While yes, I believe atma is RNG based, I do think there is a "trick" to the whole thing. Based on my own experience, it seems like you get an enhanced drop rate under the right conditions, probably due to a sequence of atma you currently have in your inventory when the game determines whether you get the atma or not. Why do I say this? Because my atma drop-rate INCREASED as I collected all my atma. After my 3rd atma, I adopted this strategy and it worked amazingly well.

1 - Make a list of all remaining zones
2 - Go to your next zone and do no more than 6-8 fates
3a - If no atma is dropped, repeat step 2
3b - If you get an atma, start again from step 1

I had multiple instances where I could predict when an atma would drop. Between atmas, I would keep track of fates per zone (that count would reset with each atma drop). Atma would always drop within 5 fates in that case. To me it seemed like there was a "sequence", that sequence either being global or unique per relic weapon (I am about to start exploring this idea with the Summoner weapon). However, maybe I was just lucky. This idea still relies on randomness. I also believe gold, silver, and bronze rewards do impact the drop rate.

SIDE NOTE: Can we please increase the max character limit on initial posts. Having to edit something just to finish a post is getting really, really annoying.

It's all pure luck. The developers said so.
