But it is a bad tactic. The only time I suggest using it out of combo is if you need some form of enmity right then and there, and you only use it once. You don't spam it like the person you quoted was talking about.

3 Uncombo'd RoH are less damage AND enmity than using the combo chain once.

Honestly, this issue is what makes me not wanting to play anymore.
I mean, I don't care that people can get sands/oil easily via hunts anymore (although I have to admit that I, as raider, was pretty upset because of it as the patch came out); however, the things I've seen after the patch in the roulettes are...horrible.

First, I got flamed several times by tanks who had an higher itemlevel (via hunts, obviously), telling me that I'm a bad tank and that they are much better while they couldn't even hold enemity. Mostly by pala-tanks.
(I really hate this attitude: "I'm OT/MT because my itemlevel is higher and I'm much better than you!" Just no. I always ask my fellow tanks in the roulette what they would like to tank - this is a matter of respect. Having an higher itemlevel -especially if you have just obtained it via hunting - doesn't give you more rights than other tanks.)
To be quite frank, as someone who plays MMOs for over 10 years, mostly as tank, and who is playing a tank in FF14 ever since release this is really an insult. Not to mention that this week is our static raid group's 11th kill of T9.

Second, I can't do speedruns anymore.
Of course I ask first whether I'm allowed to speed up the runs or not once I've checked the gear of the group - but gear doesn't say anything anymore.
I've seen whitemages with Il105+ who didn't even use regen. So I've wiped quite a lot with randoms lately (I have done speedruns with class-gear healers before who knew what they were doing - no problem at all) so I'm pretty much doomed to slow things down for now.
Actually I don't care much whether I'm "allowed" to do speed-runs or not - nevertheless it's pretty ridiculous that people with an itemlevel of almost 110 don't even dish out as much dmg as some of my il90 classes, for example.

Everyone is allowed to play (after all we pay the same subscription fee); so obviously there will be bad players as well who just want to enjoy the game.
But what I really, really hate after the unofficial "hunt"-patch is the attitude of those players who have never stepped a foot into coil 2 (and even beating T6 doesn't say much since there exists a glitch, so I've heard).
Suddenly a ton of players are appearing who are saying of themselves "they are soo good and never do mistakes" just because they have il110 via hunting, not even knowing the basics of their classes.

Just to mention it again: I don't care anymore about the amount of sands/oil handed out by hunt - but the behavior of the players is just horrible.
Just no - you don't need ANY skill for hunting. So stop being arrogant about it - especially if you have no clue about your own class.

If you ever thought ilvl=skill then you were wrong to begin with.

Guildhest should be more forced (or with a good reward at the end of the last guildhest). Not an option that you would only need to do for the 2.1 storyline.

It's almost if....gear does not mean the player is skilled....

Hmm. It's not as if I haven't said that since (oh I dunno) the launch of ARR.

What is this "speed" "run" you speak of?

I don't think anyone really wants to go back to spamming dungeons for progression. Thanks.

As far as going fast goes, just gauge your group as you go. No need to start off with a wipe.

Gear ilvl has very little to do with whether you can beat Titan or not. No matter what your ilvl, you're still gonna die if you get knocked off the edge, or if you eat every Weight. Same goes for any fight with instant death mechanics. Unless you have a static party of eight, you're always going to have to worry about whether the pick-up members you run with are going to be able to hold their own.

So, it's not really funny, or even unusual, for a high ilvl player to be held back from completing content - not due to their gear or skill, but due to the gear or skill of the players they run the content with. I'm in a five-member static, and we feel this pain very keenly - three pick-up members leaves a WHOLE lot of room for error on fights like Titan Ex or Twintania.

I level has nothing to do with skill - it is a one dimensional number that seems to be the only way of progressing a character in FFXIV.

Everyone is a cookie cutter copy, with Ilevel being the single mechanism provided to players for advancement. It is the catch-all number.

ILevel is more indicative of hours played than anything else, imo.

What's really crazy is the Novus quest line you can waste a lot of time doing dailies and get one mysterious map a day for a total of 75 days providing you manage to collect on all maps without dying and grind fates or buy more maps to shave time and spend a ton of Gil or time getting materia or you can go to ST roll for an unidentified Alagan tomestone spend 3 weeks saving 1300 soldiery and buy you a Ilvl 100 weapon upgradable to 110. Now I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed but something tells me this just doesn't add up.

The lesson here folks is why should we bother with Novus again?
