The heal buff helps bring Defiance on par with Shield Oath.. That's hardly negligible.

The rest of that statement doesn't make sense. Physical defense is the same for both tanks, I don't see how you are thinking it scales differently for them.

not the physical defense, pld damage reduction scales more with increasing ilvl then wars hit points. In a few upgrades it'll be more noticable unless they rebalance it. Also it is negligible since it still takes a healer +1 or more healing skills to top off war over pld. in most instances you can ignore the 25% heal buff and top the war off with the same amount of curing abilities.

Physical/Magic Defense have no bearing on DR abilities. They do not modify these stats in any way (except Foresight).

As for healing, in most cases healers are overhealing both tanks to begin with. You can not ignore the healing buff and say it's insignificant, because if you take it away then PLD instantly becomes the dominant tank, as they are no longer equal (on paper or in practice). You are basically saying that this would be insignificant and negligible. Is it? Is it really?

I withdraw. I thought this backwards, in effect higher Defense would lower damage reduced due to taking less total damage.
