because this (in my opinion) is retarded

I tried most things but things like crafting and dailies are just way too boring for me.
My routine looks somewhat like this:

What is the point of having full 110 gear and an Animus weapon when noone wants you in their raidgroup because you can't play for shit

It would be worth it if they bothered to boost the Atma drop rates in 2.3. The myth grind for Animus became waaaaay less obnoxious but there is no way in hell I would recommend people grind out the Atmas now that Unidentified tomestones are available to everyone and even if you don't get one you still get a decent amount of stones.

You are wasting your time for second best with the relic quest.
The relic is actually "For Casuals", as an alternative to the end game raid that is actually fundamental to FFXIV core.
The Raid drops will always be the gold standard.

Is it true that coil is ending in patch 2.4? Will that be the last series in the Binding coil of bahamut? If so then what will happen to all that raid gear then, will that still be the best place to get the best weapons/gear or will something else take its place? According to some of the questions that were asked from the letter discussion forums, coil ends in 2.4, unless I misread somewhere and that those weapons and gear will not be the best forever. Thus, is it true that SE is trying to get away from storylines centered around primals? I'm just curious and would appreciate any information and/or thoughts on this. Thanks in advance

That's all well and good and I'm glad there are parts of the game you like but there is no rational reason for you to belittle the input of those who are providing feedback for aspects of the game in which you don't even partake. You have relatively less investment in the game and fixing things that don't currently have an effect on you would continue not having an effect on you. Even if Novus was BiS you and like-minded people still wouldn't even think about attempting to get it. The parts of the game less invested players enjoy wouldn't even exist if their weren't enough people interested in the game as a whole as well as a regular, invested playerbase. It's de facto counterproductive to your own agenda to want more invested players to hate the game. Invested players are a much more reliable revenue stream and much harder to replace than their fickle FotM-esque counterparts. Content that alienates such a large percentage of players must be responsibly addressed.

By no stretch of logic does Atma/Animus/Novus ownership imply lack of skill, especially not in the modern reality of lowest-common-denominator online gaming and particularly not with FFXIV's choreographed endgame "mechanics."

While I could be wrong, I don't recall seeing the devs express that opinion at any time. Also, calling SCOB core is illogical. If all non-SCOB ready players quit right now the game would flop overnight. Hardly core by any stretch, nor are SCOB-only subscribers though it may be the most central aspect of their personal playtime.

The Raid drops will always be the gold standard.
This would be a myopic stance even if it wasn't for the fact that there's 27 years of FF history that says otherwise. As relic progression compounds with each additional tier it grows increasingly difficult for anyone to rationalize RNG drops remaining superior indefinitely. It would be a bastardization of FF in general and completely marginalize the lore and atmosphere of the game and the series.

Yes, they said that 2.4 will be the last coil.
But that just means they will introduce a new raid series

Totally agree with you. Anyone who has played all the Final Fantasys, specially their other long running MMO knows how valued Relics are to SE. Don't be fooled. Relic progression in this game will only get harder and more tedious and will discourage people from continuing with their progress. After a while Relics will be weapons with possibly 2 years of hard work put into it and you're deluded enough to think they won't be the #1 choice for endgame down the road?

That is what they want. A select group of few people that took the time to upgrade patch after patch. Like I said, as it gets harder, less and less people will be interested in doing it because CURRENTLY the weapons aren't the best, although I particularly like SMN Novus a lot due to the fact that our high allagen book has a completely useless stat for us. It's basically 2 weapon damage vs 31 Det so I imagine the difference is miniscule. Upgrade your relic and stop crying.
