2.X and 1.X are different games with different objectives. Never forget that when you ask "something that was promised in 1.x". It may not be promised anymore in 2.x
Aside the fact 90%+ of 2.x's systems originated in 1.0 - 1.23 and many, many important NPCs are largely the same if not the exact same? Arcanist was promised since 1.0 and we got it, only changed in order to fit in Summoner and Scholar.
