Novus weapon upgrade system findings

Well the hunts will also have some type of currency or drop pull as the hero gear supposedly moving over to it in some shape or form, so maybe it is specific marks above the level you would be rewarded with the hero's gear instead of being all clumped together.

Pretty ironic that some of the same people who like to tell people complaining about atma drop rate from fates to basically suck it up are now whining about low alex drop rates.

I have no problems with the low drop rates. Infact I'm using my extra time not farming alexandrite from FATES and acquiring more atmas instead, focusing on just getting 1-3 alex a day from quest/myth.

To the point, you are lucky to get a single alexandrite within 3-5 hours of FATE grinding. Honestly, I'm under the impression that Bray HM speed run myth grinding is sadly the best current means of obtaining Alexandrite; at least you have guaranteed tangible rewards to show for the time spent and you can spirit bond for materia while doing so. Not to mention all the money to be made from trading drops for seals and selling potash, ect.

We’ve confirmed a bug wherein players are unable to receive alexandrite from FATEs after upgrading their Curtana Animus to a Curtana Novus.

While there are other means of obtaining alexandrite, please take note that it will not be possible to obtain them through FATEs while we work to correct this. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

Just wanted to clarify to see if I'm reading this too literally. Do you mean that nobody with any animus weapon will be able to obtain alexandrite from FATEs until the issue with Curtana Novus is fixed, or do you mean simply that only those who have upgraded to Curtana Novus already will be unable to obtain alexandrite from FATEs for now? Just to be sure before I spend more time FATE grinding! Alternately, has anybody gotten alexandrite drops from FATEs since this message went up yesterday? Thanks for the help.

I believe it specificly implies that if you are a PAL and have an Animus Shield equipped but a Novus Sword, then you will not be obtaining Alexandrites via fates. All cases where an Animus is in the main hand slot are still valid cases for obtaining them from fates.

Dunno how many people seen this.... "When we do finally raise the level cap in the future, Skill Speed will play an even bigger role there. In regards to the Novus Weapon we are looking to add a re-spec system in the future so that players have more options to re-customize their weapon."

We don't know how the Re-Spec system will work, But if it involves getting 75 Alex/Materia again might be worth doing SkSp now?

It's just as Codek has mentioned. Basically, this only applies to paladins who have upgraded their Curtana Animus to Curtana Novus and are trying to upgrade their Holy Shield.

Also, as a side note just to debunk any rumors floating around, equipping both Curtana Animus and Holy Shield Animus at the same time will not improve the drop rate of Alexandrite from FATEs. Similarly, if you equip Curtana Animus and Holy Shield Zenith you will only receive alexandrite as a drop; you will not receive both atma and alexandrite.

Can you please change it so Atma's can drop utilizing Animus/Novus weapons?

It'd be nice to be able to get some headway on a subclass Novus given you still have to go through the whole entire process again, and given how terrible the Atma droprate is (and how boring much of the playerbase perceives it is to grind lowbie FATE's for days).
