It will only feel like they are holding everything back. Which they are, but still really if they dont raise the cap, they will be forced to create way too much content at the level 50 mark, and the more content that is at the level 50 mark, the more people will be upset when cap goes up. People are already thinking about 50 like its the final cap, I dont want to be stuck here.
Though I can empathize with this issue, I feel that the mentality will only lead to further "hurry up and give me my content NOW, regardless of quality".

This is indeed a developer goal, but it is also far from the present reality of the game. So until all required changes have been completed and thoroughly tested, this makes it difficult to act on in this manner.

Supposedly withing the next 3 months they will be finished with battle changes, which they claimed was the real problem so even in by their own meter, there is no reason to hold back content.
Those who have chosen to rank up multiple classes to cap, that is purely their decision. To be honest it may have been a better idea to take frequent breaks and avoid that because now every time content is released, those people will feel either disappointed or ignored. In addition, this game has a lot more issues than just the battle system, so I expect a considerably longer downtime than 3 months. Agreed that these people are professionals and should be able to deal with the stresses of producing quality in a timely manner, but I'd sooner give them the extra time and get a suitable return on my investment than be repeatedly dissatisfied as I have been since launch.

Building an MMO around the idea of the players taking frequent breaks is a bad idea.

Building an SP system that at max takes 14 months, at two hours a day to max every battle class, and raising the cap 2 years later is also a bad idea.

They basically need to be able to do both. They HAVE to up productivity in some way if they want to compete. There really is just no two ways about it. They had an extra year, i hope they have been storing many things behind the scenes, because a year is a long time in MMOs.

They no longer have the luxury of time. They have games coming out that have been in development for less time, with more polish and content coming out on release soon. They need to at the very least finish the basic story, and content that the game shipped with. They have had these assets since the game launched, dungeon areas, storylines, etc. The game has been hanging in a state that was supposed to last 5 months (the original ps3 release) for twice as long.

If they added the arc, musk, mystic, ishguard, the 5 or 6 dungeons people have already found, the skills they have already designed, the leves, behests and storylines they have already written. it would be a pretty decent chunk of stuff, and this stuff was already pretty far into development on release, 10 months later it should not be rushed content, it is way overdue.
