In all honesty Rag has a point of, if you present a dps number on this forum (as I have many times) you get called a liar, you try to post something on reddit thats against popular opinion but get betters results you get downvoted to oblivion. Anyway to go over a few things from my point of view and before I start this I'll at least gives a little detail on me.
- I have both smn and blm at 50 and play them both. Both have high allagan weapons. both however have fairly lower ilvls than the dps I normally play with. I'm i104 on both.
- I am a better black mage than I am a summoner both however produce good numbers
- I am in the Legacy fc on Sargatanas and have been double clearing turn 9 for about 3 weeks now (one with an alt, one with a main.)
- My static has a far above excellent drg and brd in it. So I can actually compare myself to these two jobs.
Vivi, has it ever occurred to you that you could simply be better at smn than blm? Serious question. I will agree that smn produces better single target dps than blm, smn also is very good at fights that have multiple spread out targets in them. SMN however doesn't blow blm out of the water. I will also agree that endgame currently lacks any aoe dps fights. I will never agree however that blm isn't capable of 350+ on t6, when they are very capable (even before having a HA weapon) The thing that angers me most about this forum is its attitude however, the mentality that if "I can't hit X amount of DPS then obviously no one else can" that very attitude holds you back. Much like in the real world people have different talents, and in video games (any genre) there are some players that are just better (not as people, just skilled) It's why league of legends has bronze, silver, gold, platinum, diamond and challenger ranks - so that people have more fun while playing. I want to also stress that I do not look down on people for being lower rated on whatever game - I dislike a self-defeating attitude, and will often talk to people that will bother listening.
If I had it my way blm would simply receive a small potency increase on fire, and that's it. I currently like the niche of turret dps and I also like the skill of casting and moving is what often sets blms apart, we don't need stacking firestarters, or thunderclouds (although losing a firestarter stack is annoying.) we don't need surecast to allow us to move and cast. perhaps, revert scathe back to it's 2.0 value as it's useful at times. I don't want the to class to be overbuffed so that SE then overnerfs it later on.
The mouse + keyboard thing vs controller thing though. I feel that more options brings more power and having a gaming keyboard + naga mouse gives a ton more options than a controller, sorry.
I'm all for the buff... just not an overbuff - if you want good numbers practice more, they are possible. A small potency buff on fire + scathe is about all we need. The worst thing about blm imo, is how it depends on a bard and scholar to get its best numbers.
