What exactly id your fate completion log for those two atma crystals? That seems inordinately long, and highly likely of being an overblown estimate of the real time it took, since the average farm time for one is more like 5 hours per.
I gone a whole few days without an Atma before. I wouldn't count time it took for you as the average if we are getting many people who got their Atmas in hours and others who got theirs in days.
I'm having an awful time obtaining atma. I've been working on getting atma almost since the quest was available and to the day I only have 2/12 atma.
I've spent numerous hours and have done HUNDREDS of fates and have 2! What is even worse is that sometimes I'll go with FC members and Boom! First fate, one person gets it. Within an hour, almost everyone has gotten it besides me. And that's with me as my job, the quest active, and using my relic zenith.
Today I fate grinded for 5 hours and one FC mate got 2, one FC mate for 3.....and I got none. Some people are amazingly lucky and I have shit for luck.
It puts me in such a bad mood that I can't even do it too long before giving up to run something else.
I guess slowly but surely. And the "surely" is "iffy" at this point.
MEGA CUTENESS ATTACK! SUPER EFFECTIVE!
I'm with the people who are overly upset with the current ATMA system and the entirely RNG aspect of getting anything from fates. Personally, I got one atma when it first came out, grinded a few hours, put it on hold. Did fates on and off, couple hours a day, since the day after atmas came out and got nothing. It's pretty stupid. Then just yesterday i farm for them, same as always, and i get 7 over a period of 5 hours. I was completely blown away, made me question if they changed the drop rate or not. I don't know, but I dislike the current system.
I think they would be better off implementing a token system to this grind.
Statistically speaking, the best way to determine the rate of atma to FATE is more accurate with a very large sample size, and utilizing fate counts rather than time.
For me, I have 65 atmas earned so far, and took approximately 2000 fates, based on when I began and when I earned my 3000 fate achievement.
This means I earned 1 atma, on average, every 30.8 FATE, or 3.25% average chance.
We would need more people rating theirs in the same matter if we wish to get a more accurate odds.
But merely based on these 65, for the average player to get 1 full atma set it should take approximately 370 FATES to get all 12.
When will this thread end? Lol. Besides Duuude, all I see is complain complain complain.Welcome to the MMO world! This is not the first time RNG has been used.
It's not RNG. It's fate with RNG. I'm not afraid of doing a challenging fight again and again to get my drop (LEvi ex, moogle ex, twintania or farming any of the other raids). I'm afraid of doing 10 to 80 hours of gameplay spamming flash as a paladin to get gold in fates and hope to get a gold while watching Tv or listening music... And, for average drop rates, i'm at 350+ fates still at 3/12 atmas...
I guess the people wondering why everyone complains are the same people that got lucky on their Atma - sure, it's hard to understand the frustration of not getting a single Atma after weeks of farming for someone who got his in like 8 hours.
I for one will stop farming Atma until it gets fixed and have instead started leveling my Crafting classes.
And truth be told, ever since I decided to do so FF started to be a fun game again![]()

It's RNG. Just because, say, the average was 1/100, that doesn't mean you WILL get an atma on the 100th try. It's more like:
(1/100)/100
For every single 1 attempt you make, your chance would be a 1 out of 100 chance. This is not a stacking statistic. Completely static. You will always be rolling 1/? chance because the given "rate" is unidentified, as the system is based purely on RNG.
I really wish these "theorists" would stop trying to "explain" how to "guarantee" drops.

Theorists?
I am simply stating actual results.
It took roughly 2000 fates to earn 65 atmas.
No atma took longer than 10 cumulative hours, if you were curious. For every very long wait time, there was a very short wait time to counterbalance.
Law of large numbers- The more often that you have the same conditions repeated, the more stable the resulting frequency will become.
Most people who do atmas, stop at 12, or even fewer atmas.
A very small sample size.
I have offered a considerably larger sample size. I know it is not perfectly accurate, as having more samples, ad infinitum, collected in the same manner will further assist in its accuracy.
It is the same reason that people complaining about 5 sequential misses on a 90% chance-to-gather node, are not considering the chances across 100 or 1000 gathering attempts resulting in a more accurate "average 90%".
So! We simply need a large, carefully tracked tally of the number of specific fates it took to get any individual atma drops. Simple. Right.
I know there are others who have gotten more atma than myself, perhaps they can contribute their results.
