    It's not what a lot of people are willing to pay for which is why this is such a huge argument to begin with. I don't have a problem with a grind, it can be relaxing in some cases, provided progress is seen. I've been grinding on and off since Atma has shown and I've got one of twelve. That's not fun, that's boring, especially since I'm redoing the same FATEs I did before.

    Give me a concrete method of measuring progress. As it is, I'm gambling my time in hopes of an Atma drop and still the guy next to me manages to complete his collection with minimal time investments (and then turns around and says "Hay, it isn't that bad.. is easy!")

    RNG can be a useful tool, but it does indeed suck when it's used improperly.

    Worm I read all your posts recently and I think you don't understand what we are trying to say. The problem is not the RNG part. There is and always be a RNG part with mmorpg, the main problem here is the game design. Having a RNG part with something challenging and fun is ok. Having a rng part with something boring, requiring no skill etc is a mistake.

    I have no problem in real life with my job to spend time on something long with no garanteed result in the end, but the thing is ... it's a game and I don't have anything to prove in a game I just want it to be fun and exciting. ATMA is not fun nor exciting and as a consequence shouldn't be part of a game.

    I agree that it should have been something other than FATEs, but when you guys go and say "hey I don't find this fun don't make it part of the game" It's just so irritating to me. Why does what you like trump what I like? It's like the antithesis of discussion or thought. I honestly don't mind it, it's going to be fun to have the item, it's going to be rare (for a little while) and I'm enjoying it right now. How did the desires and opinions of you become the golden standard for what's fun and exciting?

    Also if you get bothered because the guy next to you gets something you lost a roll for ... you are LITERALLY HAVING A PROBLEM WITH RNG. Grinding is just gambling, because it's not the standard token treadmill you're used to it has to be removed immediately. There is already barely any scarcity in this genre anymore thanks to players like you, it's just twisting the dagger to see everyone freaking out ... very often using poorly thought out arguments that are against RNG or timesinks in general.

    Try spending over 64 hours farming the same fates in the same zone over and over and not getting a single atma, then say you like it, haha.

    7/12 atmas, 60 hours later and no more drops. I think the waiting time for a drop is a bit excessive. :P Doesn't help when a random error 90k pops out in the middle of a fate either.

    The fate system is completely fine. Kids these days just want instant gratification. Regardless if the work is challenging or not, work is work. PS: got my first set in 13 hours, then second set in 7 hours. It's a care-bear world now in MMOs sadly.

    Though at 10% it might as well be 100%, drop rates are a funny thing and you can't make something scarce or hard to obtain with a double digit drop rate. There really are not other ways to do rarity in these games frankly. You can either put things behind multiple raid bosses and even then it seems like a ton of players get them (are there any achievement statistics sites yet?). I mean this really is just one of the few ways to achieve rarity, you either make an item really low drop on easy plentiful mobs, somewhat low drop on really rare hard to kill mobs, or lock it behind some highly overtuned raid that will take months for people to learn. I guess the only other thing would be making the item behind some bracket PVP tournament. There just are not a lot of other options, beside just making it easy to obtain.

    I don't want instant gratification.

    I want to feel like I have something to show for 194409605 hours of atma grinding. A progress bar? That's fine. Capped soldiery? Great! I know what I need to do to get my armor, and it won't be instant.

    RNG for a weapon that is literally for show (at first)? And the show-weapon is needed to power it up further? Not fine.

    I was doing sahagin dailies and got my 2nd atma of the crab dropped (i haven't got all 12 yet so i have two crab atmas in the bag now). But i farmed middle la noscea and east shroud for atmas i actually need for 3h and had no drop. Does se really think people will do atma for alts? Why make double drops otherwise....
    3 weeks later after the grind introduction very few people are doing fates for atma. To me this whole feature looks like a really mad idea to make fates useful (i heard they were not available in 2.0). Ex primals, fates, CT, atma grind, echo - for me they are very bad design moves. Everything i like in ffxiv is from 2.0.
