    If by "clever" you mean sadistic sure. That's the difference between Final Fantasy and other bosses in other games. Malboro, Cactuar, Tonberry, and Pandemonium are prime examples in the Final Fantasy universe when it comes to explaining it which is why they are loved and hated. Yet as far as Coil goes in FFXIV we have 0 tolerance mechanics and rotations that are not only demanding to memorize but happening within 5 seconds of each other which does not allow enough time to react to them for the most part.

    That sadistic nature was their charm in previous FF titles but unlike previous Final Fantasy titles we had alternatives to cheese the content. Farm max stats, weapons, summons, spells, Break Damage Limit, Break HP limit, and Ribbon. Luxuries we do not have here. Even the Limit Break system doesn't trivialize the overall fight except for ridding us of some stressful phases.

    It's nice that we can get echo to help progress in the story but as far as progression goes it's mainly - instead of /
