I generally use first 3 letters of their name, or call them by their characters gender.

    About revealing your real gender...

What you are in real life is none of my business and it should stay out of the game as well, because it is absolutely useless information have.

There are many dating website available for that.

I generally refer to people with their classes until I get to know them a little if it's outside DF where theres this akward moment of s/he ness and they correct me with the correct term. Simples.

But there is the side effect of possibly being treated different as soon as someone finds out your gender. Females can still be treated like the 'lesser' gamer or doubted for being a girl or seeming to be 'flaunting' that they are a girl for free items/gil... all things I've been accussed of in other games though not here... yet o.o

I can see the annoyance but I'd suggest just correcting them or ignoring them. Most won't be aware that they've annoyed anyone.

Rather tpyically, the only ppl making a big deal about it, are the ones that generally disagree with the OP.

She wasn't asking for the world. .-. More or less it was just to try and encourage ppl that if it's a male character, use he/him, if it's a female character, use she/her. ;o And if anyone takes a moment to correct you, then no problem.

Your first point of contact with a person is their avatar, and this is a Role Playing Game with gendered races. I understand the points being made about the higher probability of the person being male but I'm afraid this isn't a good enough reason. Ppl are saying that it's a higher probability of them being male, but then go on to say that it's bad to use the gender of the character as you don't know anything about the person in rl? Hmm. Yes, none of us know anything about each other when we first meet someone in game, so it seems to me the most appropriate thing to do is to refer to them by their character's gender. Is this starting to make sense yet?

Even if no one wishes to change, that's fine, but I hope at least you can show that you understand this way of looking at it.

Lily: Are you afraid of my kiss?
Jack: I'm afraid you'll break my heart.
Lily: Then still your heart... You are dear to me as life itself.

While I understand your point, even calling people she/he based on avatar is going to upset people. This is only my personal view. There are far worse things I've seen in chat than simpley being called a "he" or "she".

Cat girls are B-cups at best. If you wanted a large bust, you should've gone with a Roe.

It's a game, we see only pixels on our screen, how are people to know who is behind the screen, much less that their personal feelings ride on being called the correct gender? It's a bit silly isn't it?

Methinks it would be interesting to start referring to everyone (including male characters) as she just to see how people react when the shoe's on the other foot.
Happened with me before in other games (and this one) i just say i am a dude and move on. If everyone started doing it, i would just go with the flow and do the same without giving a shit.

Lol, yeah. True. I picked catgirl because I like cats. And, in some outfits, her boobs are enormous. When I created the character, I did adjust the "bust" slider all the way up. So for a catgirl, she's large-breasted. Part of me is thinking of using my Fantasia potion to change to a Roe lady. They can be sexy, and there are so many catgirls.

Honestly... why does it matter? People can call me an "it" for all I care.

I dunno, if I'm told that I have to gamble my money away on 1/3 and 2/3 odds and I can't opt out, I'd pick the 2/3 odds.

Unless I'm betting against SE's rng. Then I already lost.
