I was saying you have to do fates to get atmas, if you stop doing fates, then it is normal for you to not have any atmas, really no need to complain about not getting any atmas from not doing fates.

I did grind on FATEs, didn't get anything but frustration during that time, I gave up, way too boring and frustrating.

I rather kill Levi 100 times for it than do this stupid crap.

There are a couple ways they could fix this. One could be to ramp up the odds of getting an atma the longer you farm a zone, either gradually or suddenly. The odds of getting a drop should reach 100% by whatever the "expected" time it is that SE thinks it should take for you to get an Atma. So, if currently, SE expects the drop rate means you'll find an Atma after four hours of work, four hours is what it would take to reach 100%.

Alternatively, perhaps SE could drastically boost drop rates once you have completed every FATE in the zone at least once. This would encourage folks to sample FATEs that they might otherwise pass over due to being out-of-the-way.

The disadvantage to both these solutions is that is that it encourages people to play for very long stretches of time - something that is very un-casual friendly. (Not that the current system is all that casual friendly as it is...) Maybe if there was a "memory" that kept track of hours spent / FATEs completed so you'd be free to log off every now and then...

Another option would be to provide some kind of currency that is earned by doing FATEs. You could earn an Atma randomly as usual, but if the Atma DIDN'T drop, at least you'd be earning currency that could be spent to purchase that Atma so, no matter how bad your luck, you'd get it eventually.

The logistics of the currency system is problematic, though. I was going to suggest Grand Company Seals - but if that were the case, everyone would be spamming the high-value FATEs and ignoring the others, when SE wants folks to explore a variety of FATEs (also, it would be lame and boring and frustrating dealing with the crowds).

A consistent reward system (one point per FATE, regardless of FATE, for example) makes more sense, but, again, folks would gravitate to zones where those points were easier to get and leave the other FATEs barren.

Different points for different Atmas (Ram tokens, earned through FATEs in Middle La Noscea, can only be spent to buy Atma of the Ram), then to keep folks farming FATEs in the areas where the Atmas drop? It could work, but it would mean introducing twelve new kinds of currency, which would add an awful lot of clutter to the Currency page of your character menu. Even so, I think this is the best option, as it preserves the goal of farming Atmas in specific zones, while still providing a worst-case end-goal you can strive toward.

It makes me laugh when I see people type this. It's like, "I don't like it, so it's obviously broken."

Who says it is broken? Who says it needs fixed?
