Yea it did, what i meant my post to sound like was to go the way of nyzul mythic weapons and "additionally" leave out the currency if that makes more sense
Edited the first post to make it sound clearer

I think the currency aspect is needed though to make them rare which is the whole point. Now if they took the Nyzul Isle approach to unlocking the base weapon which would still be good and accessible to more players and then used a form of Currency to upgrade it to kind of a +1 version that would be ok. Like I said though if they make the currency rare/ex so LS leaders can't exploit there fellow members it would cut all that crap out.
They could even make the Currency drop out of the endgame dungeon as well to maybe off of Beastmen so if you fight them in the field, in a dungeon, where ever you still have chance of some dropping and with how the drop system works in FFXIV once it goes to a Player it stays with the Player.
Like I said in the beginning the whole point is to make the final form very rare, maybe it would take a hardcore player a year and a casual player 3 years but as long as the currency just dropped randomly from different sources you could make that bit of progress any time and anywhere, without having to solely focus on it and over time you would get there eventually.
First of all, yes. I would love to see relic weapons make an appearance in FFXIV. I can't imagine an FF game without ultimate weapons. However, there's one part I strongly disagree with.
This is absolutely false. For most of my relic wielding friends and myself included, exploiting others was NOT how we obtained them. I, just like most others, worked my ass off for them. I went the route of farming with my brother for months to amass all the gil needed to purchase currency. Not once did I ever "exploit" any other player to progress further with the quests.
Overall, the amount of currency that I actually got through Dynamis runs was maybe 2%. The rest I bought mostly from shouting in Whitegate.
If SE implements them the same way they did with relics or even mythics (needing currency/alexandrite/whatever,) then making them (the currency) rare/ex will be a huge mistake. All it would do is force people to exploit others, the exact opposite of what you want. The only way you'd be able to obtain them is through events. For someone to ever amass enough currency to complete them they would have to take all the currency drops in countless Raid/Dungeon runs. In FFXI it could take up to 2 years of biweekly Dynamis runs for enough currency for 1 relic, and that's if ALL of the currency went to 1 person.
Buying/selling currency is not exploiting others. Creating BS endgame rules like "So and so is getting all of the currency drops from this run" is. Sure, people did it in FFXI. But the majority of relic holders that I knew did not. Making the currecy rare/ex is only asking for exploitation and is a very bad decision if you ask me.
Edit:
This is total BS, too. Anyone that bought their currency will tell you that it took MUCH longer than getting the gil for it. Why post about things you obviously knew nothing about?

I do not think making the Currency rare/ex would be bad if you look at my idea's a few posts up, there may be something I have overlooked though so if there is please point it out. I know that not everyone would exploit players to gain what they need but their is always the bad egg's that will do just that. With how the drop system works in FFXIV that could not happen if they put it straight into your Currency inventory when it dropped.First of all, yes. I think it is great that you managed to achieve what you did and that is the point of these weapons they should require a lot of hard work and time for the final form.

Relics, if similar to FFXI's Relics and Mythics, are not meant for everyone. If the currency is rare/ex and it's supposed to take months to years to get as much as you needed then within a few years everyone would have Relics. They wouldn't be rare or unique anymore.
Exploitation of Linkshells happened in FFXI, and that was WITH currency that could be sold and traded. It will be much worse if it's made rare/ex because many shells will force these rules in order to complete the weapons faster because it would be the only way to get currency at a decent rate.
No matter which way they're implemented, if they involve currency people will exploit others. But it will be worse if exploiting is the only way to complete the quest in a reasonable amount of time.
I still do not see how making it rare/ex could allow people to be exploited, sorry I am probably missing something really obvious here ^^I would agree with you but there's one main problem I see with this.

But the way I saw it was that as you kill things, it drops and goes straight into your Currency inventory, how could a LS leader exploit it? They couldn't make everyone give them the drops as it goes straight into inventory not loot list.
Though you make a good point in everyone having one in a few years, but maybe with the Level Cap increases coming every few years then the ones that truly desire them will have it upgraded to the next stage before that happens so they will always be that one step ahead.

I'd like to see something like Relic Weapons (some long-term, goal-driven content) that Players could work towards that would unlock something really rare.
Through normal playtime, I think XI's Relics were a bit too extreme in terms of massive amount of time and gil / currency requirements to complete, maybe ~50% - 75% of those requirements / time might be more feasible.![]()
In regards to Rare/EX and your question / point about that: It would be pretty bad if it didn't drop into the Loot List and went straight to your inventory. Even if you're careful, there are times you might have Full Inventory and you'd lose that Rare Currency. That would be horrible.
There are other times where you or your friends might not want that type of currency, and would rather just give it to a friend / trade with them later. Some might want to go through a dungeon for a different reason and not want the currency itself, but with your system (dropping straight to inventory Rare/EX), it's just wasted / lost on people who might not care for it.
Regardless, it would be good to have some kind of long-term, upgradeable Weapon / Armor goal.![]()

Technically he is right. at one time you could get a relic in a few weeks when the RMT market got down $7 per million Christmas of 07'. If you were a loser with about $2800.00 to blow you could by enough currency to complete a relic.
You're missing the point. Farming gil took time, sure. But just FINDING the currency (at a reasonable price) took much longer. Even if you bought the gil, you would still have to spend months just looking for currency to buy.
