I don't know say your Relic needed 10 million Allied Notes to upgrade, that might have worked ^^ Would have took a damn long time to earn in Campaign that is for sureSorry Alexia. I must not have seen the part about currency going directly into your inventory. My mistake
But yea, even if done that way, everyone would eventually have one within a few years. I'm also fairly sure that once someone has one they will feel obligated to keeping it upgraded. I just can't see it working like this. Not to mention, rare/ex currency would have been a nightmare in XI lol.![]()
I'd like to see relic weapons again, but please make it so whatever the requirements are, can't be bought/traded.

If friends and LS mates happily contribute to getting something fro someone else, it's not "free labor" or exploitaiton. They were willing and able to help, not forced.

Theres a chance that it could not be random at all but be a standard amount given to all party (eventually multi party) groups involved in the event if its a success. I would prefer this, altered to have a FFXIV spin of course, thats just the barebones idea.
Say there is a RA/EX currency called bologna (just to be silly) and you need 50,000 of it as part of your quest for a relic weapon. There could be two events, 1 a daily that a single party does and if you win you get 30 bologna each. and then there could be a multi party event that occurs 2 times a week max that is much harder/longer, and upon success you could get 70 bologna each. possible extra goals performed mid event could boost it by 5 and 10 respectfully. Bologna goes into your currency item pouch and would be like marks so that you can't give to other people.
Needs to be harder imo. you are correct, thats just an example and nothing more, however, I hope you know thats a 143 weeks attending every single event. >.> Not what I would consider easy thats 3 years for a hardcore player lol. Thats why I think it should be balanced however they decide to do it xD
It took me a while to get my first relic (Mandau) though, after I got it, my Apoc. and Galjahorn were only 6 month ventures, that's because we split the currencies up between 4 people, it's only 3 monthsish if you give all of them to one person. but anyhoo....3 years at minimum would be just time consuming and not very hard. Believe me I'm not saying it should take 3 years, thats just how the math worked out. I picked random large number and small number and smaller number. /shrug. I just like the idea of something that caters to multiple kinds of players so it could come from more than one thing. You are absolutely correct though, balance it to where it takes too long and too much effort all the time and it become nothing more than a redundant burden feeling rather than an accomplishment.
EDIT Oh on that note, even SE had to correct their balance when mythic first came out they wanted 50K alex, then dropped it to 30K cause they realised it was nuts haha
