Casuals only reason to have an impact in an MMO is to put Gil into the pockets of the hardcore players, for the hardcore is what puts the servers into progression, puts information in FFXIV yellow gremlin, and gets "casuals" decent gear for monies. Other than that they don't do much.

And as far as multiple ways to level, I agree, makes the game a bit more adventerous for everybody.

Yep. I think it's fairly widely agreed that improvements to open world grinding improve party play and encourage players to group together for SP without the restriction of "having the right leves" or whatever.

Just a few simple fixes, and this can all be possible. All they gotta do is implement the ideas in my SP revamp thread and they should be on their way.

Later today I am going to get with Clashblades and compile all the ideas and corporate good ideas that we come up with as a good social structure for partying and exping.
Yeah I mean when the game first came out, people actually used the party search/recruit feature and I met so many people in the days of Eft and Raptor grinds but then all that changed with the nerfs in November and it got gradually worse until we finally got to Leve abandon or gtfo that we have now.

What we need are clear cut grind area's preferably around the camps we have now. So in Limsa if you are R10 and soloing you can do Leves, Behest and Solo at Skull Valley with mobs ranging from R10-20 with plenty to choose from. If you are in a party though at R10 head to Bloodshore and you will have mobs R20-30 and so on.

The Mob SP cap needs removing as well so skilled parties can head out into Coerthas and even Mor Dhona for better SP/EXP gains on tougher mobs.

Raptor parties are ok but again Mob distribution and respawn times are horrendous, you have to run all over the area and you can still get through them all before the first ones respawn and if another party turns up you are screwed. That is something they really need to look at, they need to make sure there are clusters of Mobs of similar ranks to grind off. They don't even have to be the same mob in fact it would be better if they were different so you had to mix up tactics for the fights as opposed to fighting the same Mob over and over. Then they have to do this all over Eorzea so we have plenty of spots and places to go.

    *EDIT*

The exp grind was the life-force behind ff11 it helped people socialize and introduced people to other cultures and it promoted good job/class reinforcement and it helped prepare most people for harder endgame content. In ff14 its just zoom zoom zoom everyone uses the same abilities some classes use other classes abilities better than the initial class it came from. I hope that these new battle/leve adjustment promote a good exp grind party enviroment it will only lead too a better player base and a better understanding of classes/jobs. And for santas sake please reduce voke timer or give pld a shorter recast version and secondly increass the damn range of said abilities and ranged throwing weapons irl i can throw a damn hand axe farther than 10feet; its rediculous that i have to stand in a mobs face to toss a throwing weapon in this game.

And nice post Gath and thanks to the mods for removing the morons posts.

    YES, yes and more yes.....
beastman grind one day... Dungeon the next.... Quest hub the day after that.... All of these need to be good grinding options....

I need a "Looking for Biggles" feature

that is my thing whenever you get bored with one method of leveling you can just move to another. that keeps grind from being omg grindddddddddd again. as long as their is multiple ways to go and we have those options that give similar sp then less people will complain about it. even if they hate 4 of the 5 ways to grind as long as they enjoy 1 then it's a success.

    Guildleve Reforms
When FINAL FANTASY XIV was launched last September, it was stated via official channels that guildleves will form the heart of the game. Today, I’d like to officially retract that statement.

Guildleves will no longer be central to FINAL FANTASY XIV.

In my mind, central content isn’t a static thing. Rather, it’s new content that we continually develop for our fans’ enjoyment, with no one item indefinitely bathing in the spotlight.

incase you all didnt notice the WHOLE letter more or less was about leves lol..... they still be there and will be biggest part of game...
That's because each letter as of late has has a theme, and as 1.18 draws near each aspect will be spoken about. when the producer of the game says it will not be central, well I don't think much more needs to be said.

I'm most excited to hear that we will now have quest-based leveling! This is where me and my husband will spend a big chunk of our time, as we enjoy questing together.

Story and substance are key for me in MMOs. And while SE usually excels at this, FFXIV has really fallen short. Finally, we're getting back on track!

I'm really glad I waited to do my sidequests. <3

Anyway, I think the upcoming questhubs will also help to facilitate that progression push, and give us a reason to explore.

I also plan to be running dungeons, as that's something I enjoy, too.

Getting away from the empty grind is a fantastic move. I haven't been as excited about this game in almost a year.

I quite liked the original 15person method of grinding mobs for skill.
But then we were shifted from that to leves, then from 15 to 8 people.
And now leves will become more solo-orientated content.
It feels like we're being shifted from box to box without any diversity.
I read the producer's letter and saw thats was he wants to move away from and provide various methods.
But right now there is nothing to back up those words. We have 2 upcoming instances for 25+ and 45+ on a cooldown (unknown?).
And I very much doubt in the intial stages many ranks less than 50 will be given a spot if the instance is how its been quoted as "difficult".
So that leaves the other instance.

I'm not saying the current static selection of leves that most rank up on isn't monotonous, it is. I'm bored of it too.
But I wouldn't take the benefits of that away without having something immediate to replace it with.

Could you explain why you like grinding mobs more?
More like, you don't have to move from one centralized spot, and for questing, you have to move around a lot and waste time by talking to npcs/completing objectives that slow down leveling. Mob grinding is more efficient.
