Am I the only one feeling very sad about the "Favour" system being an april fool?

If a player had a Female character and chosen to romance Thancred then later in the storyline you encounter Thancred flirting with a few girls like his usual self he would act in Shock and perform a excuse of "this isn't what it looks like." while the other girls question who the player is

While a friend relation would result with him saying hi and the girls asking Thancred to introduce them to the player.

Also usually a FF game would have some kind of romance in the story anyways even if the main character isn't part of the romance or have the option to romance a NPC.

EDIT: I re-read my post. I was talking just about in the main story about changes to dialog/cutscenes, since people would complain if they get locked out of something there like this (no matter how trivial, and even if they choose to not have it unlocked). I agree with extra stuff, just not a ton in the main story; side-quests and "Favor" quests would be where the bulk would be IMO /EDIT

IMO, you chose a bad character as an example lol. I'm pretty sure anyone who romances Thancred would have to be fine with him being, well, himself lol. Though there probably would be people looking to "change" him too...

But I think these types of cutscenes/dialog would be better as part of the "Favor" quest-lines, and the main story would have things pretty much being the same for everyone (with some minor tweaks that ultimately don't matter; not saying dialog and the like isn't affected, its just not something that anyone would really be upset with missing, like a teary good-bye right before a big fight, NPCs in cutscenes/certain fights changing depending on friendships [but always the same number], and so on).

Favor questlines would have dialog trees to "open up" the NPCs, ask questions to get to know them better, unlock deeper friendships, etc. But I think it would be best, for the game, to have that stuff on the side.

Well i only picked Thancred because he is the easiest to make a example about while the other characters don't have quite enough background info quite yet.

I do agree most of the Favor system should be placed into Favor Quests. Though what i would favor is that each NPC has their own unique quests and events covering their past, lore, and relation type kind of like in SWTOR with companions.

There isn't really much of a reason a romance would heavily influence the storyline. Maybe some dialog changes slightly if you're romancing a main character, or a specific NPC comes along with you in a mission (someone always goes with you in this example; perhaps if your romancing the default NPC they don't go and another person goes instead, or if you're not romancing the person your partner comes instead of the default) but overall you're still doing the same things as everyone else. Maybe an extra cutscene/dialog before an important part where your lover asks you to be careful or whatnot. Nothing major, nothing someone who chooses not to romance anyone would miss.

Well but...I want to get "favour" with everyone available, if you know what I mean... >.> And if it affected the story too much, you'd probably be locked in XD

I think you guys got the wrong idea about Thancred, but I haven't made a lady yet nor started in Uldah so I guess I have yet to see everything about him XD;

There are actually already peices of story that each player is already missing out on thats no big deal. For instance, what I just mentioned: I didn't start in Uldah so instead Y'da and Pappylimo (sp...) had more involent in my story than Thancred. Also: Thancred already acted differently towards me cuz I wasn't a lady. Which is exactly why I want to make a lady that starts in Ul'dah XD
So as you can see, there is ALREADY tiny bits of differing content like that wherein it's not a big deal to miss out on.

I want to romance Thancred because he is my favorite. That's what I (and another lady I know) want really badly like holy crap.

(Though what I want even more is a Firion minion and a Firion outfit but that's a discussion for another day XD)

I don't thiiink he acts any differently towards females? But, think about how many times you've "snuck up" on him and he's ogling/musing about some lady.

In Ul'dah's storyline you do get to see a flashback of him with a lady on each arm, playing it smooth. XD Still <3 him though.

The strange thing is, on my old 1.0 Ul'dah alt (a female Sunseeker miqo'te), Thancred never once tried hitting on my character, instead preferring to flirt with female npcs - it's almost as if he has 'limits' for adventurers.

That doesn't worry me though - even though I'm already taken, Enki does have a soft spot for Cid hehe.. :3

I don't recall Thancred actually trying to get with my character (or my Ul'dah alt); if there's any differences its minor and doesn't really affect anything. He does chastise me for "sneaking up" on him when he's watching every other female Scion...

When I heard about the favour system yeah I figured April fools but still dreamt of a dragon age esque friendship system
I was already picturing thancred taking me out to the Bismarck in limsa for a meal haha
