Non-crafters only: Are you happy with the vanity system?

I'm currently working on leveling crafts, but that's besides the point really. A simple vanity tab would have been perfect and allowed everyone complete freedom. besides greedy crafters, there are other issues with this system as well that a vanity tab would have fixed. For instance, if I have the Allagan healing robe that I use with both level 50 healers, I can only glamour it for one of the two classes. If I wanted to use Artifact gear for glamours, I'd have to choose which one. A vanity tab based off the job you're playing would have been much better than this convoluted mess.

I say non-crafters because of course they love it. They're making money hand over fist for a system that is normally introduced to be a fun quality of life addition for everyone. But, thanks to the fact that A) SE decided to implement what is likely the worst vanity system in history and B) crafters are WAY over charging for the prisms, this new addition completely excludes players that aren't rolling in gil.

I would say a leveling a crafter pays for itself. It's actually a really fun experience for people who like to craft new items. If you don't like the price then don't buy it. Someone will undercut them sooner or later. As for your money woes I feel like you could be doing something better to get money because I'm not even trying and I'm making money just doing instances and selling the mats I get. I think I've made over 500k in the last week. If it wasn't for Glamour I don't know what I would do with my money besides get better gear for my crafting classes.

No, I am not happy with the vanity system at all, but it's not the prisms that bother me - it's the ridiculous, arbitrary restrictions on who can glamour what. Every time I see a tank or a monk running around in a dress, I fume. How is that any different than me wanting to wear plate or that sweet BTN set on my WHM??? Augh. If they just allowed everyone to glamour everything, regardless of armor type tags, I would be perfectly content with the system.

I am fine with it. Only thing that bothers me is that I would like to be able to toogle off my glamour effects if I wanted the looks of the original gear, instead of completely removing the glamour.

Greedy? Personally, I don't even know how much Prisms are going for on my server; I make them for my friends either for free or for the price of clear prisms (200 gil)

You are lazy for not leveling a crafter and wanting a hand-out. It costs me maybe 500 gil to make a prism, 200 if I gather all the mats (which I do, since all the mats are for things I craft often, so I have them on hand).
If people are paying thousands of gil for a prism, its because they feel its a fair price. If they weren't selling at those prices, the price would go down.

As I dont have any of my crafts at lvl 50 (tho I got cul to lvl 37. Worst experience of my life), I can safely say I'm fine with it. Costs a bit more than I would like on my server. (certain grade of prisms cost upwarts to 1k to 2k at least, but then they cell in stakes of 5s. Not cool man -__-) but yeah, it did what I was hoping it would do; a steady flow of income for crafters that doesn't break your back (considering I can get upwards to 2k gil within 40 minutes of logging on, I'm sure others get much more)

Leveling a crafter is not hard at all. It just takes a bit of time and understanding how to HQ (or just buy all your leve turn-ins...)

You're just being lazy and want a hand-out.

Personally I don't consider myself a crafter just yet, but I do have WVR50 I can make the Clothcraft prisms, but that's about it. I've used more of other crafting prisms over my own for most of my vanity, and honestly I didn't think they were priced that high, BUT I am on a different server and a Legacy one at that. I've heard bad things about newer server economies, but idk for sure since I'm not there. But buying most of my prisms for vanity for 3 jobs, I've found it rather cheap, coming from someone who is the poorest among his friends/LS/FC and honestly I LOVE this vanity system. I hope to soon have more crafters leveled to make my own soon. Here in Hyperion btw the most expensive prism I bought was about 3,000 gil.

Then buy them. Why is it so hard to understand that if you don't want to or can't make something, you have to trade with others in the form of gil or items for what you want? People QQ about dead market cause nothing the DoW and DoM needs are tradable and now you complain that some people actually make money off of you deciding not to level craft?

It's called making a profit. Just like you going into a dungeon for gears. If it weren't for that gear or the enjoyment, would you still go? No. People do something because of the incentives it gives. Profit is the incentive to level DoH. You chose not to and now complain.

I have never ONCE complained about a dead market (and challenge you to find a post where I have), in fact, I could care less how cheap stuff goes for. Allows everyone to be able to buy whatever they want. So, you can take your accusations elsewhere.
