Instance = 4-24 Co-Op servers = Not MMO.I dont really see the difference, open world, instance,
Open World = 3k+ people on same server = MMO.
That is kind of important to me.

yes but my "mula" is going to the game style I personally enjoy and funding that rather than funding this game which if by chance others choose to follow suite will slowely decrease the development budget of this game to the point there will be delays cut corners and an overall quality drop. Will that happen no idea but I know I have made my choice and encourage others to do the same. This isnt the only MMO out there and there is far more choices for entertainment. If even 20% of the player base quits and they dumb down end game because NOONE is doing it so that now the new top 20% are ending up in the same boat and quit and that continues then what? going to keep telling them to quit and move on ? Its going to be an amusing boat to watch hopefully it doesnt end up like SWTOR or Aion or Rift or Tera or... well see the list of any released MMO in the last 5 years.
I think my post (#51) explains horrific drop rates and the reason behind them. Also fixed your post. By asking for open world, you are in turn basically asking for horrific drop rates. Either that or nice long spawn times which is essentially a different style of lockout.Present me a quote from any thread demanding open world content where we demand we want 0.02% drop rates. Guess what -you can't, because no one ever said such thing. Refer to my comment on page 5 for what we want. Just diversity. If you like farming same dungeon and/or open world every day for months then fine, but there are people who do not.

You should have bought an authenticator.....
Your tears feed me....
What's wrong with SWTOR, AION, RIFT, TERA? looks like they're still running and people are enjoying it, not to mention they're all profiting, so what's the problem?
A declining playerbase, a less than stellar community, a heavy encouragement on using real money for everything (from dungeon resets to current tier gear to just being able to hold your stuff because bag slots are gated behind real money pay walls), sparse content updates because more focus is spent getting people to use the cash shop, etc.
Playerbase seems fine if they're still making profits. Community? Laughable, read through the threads on these forums. Cash shop? They gotta make money somehow. Point is, people are still playing and enjoying those games just like if you and your 20% leave this game, there will still be people playing and enjoying this game. You certainly won't be missed so go ahead and speak with your wallet.A declining playerbase, a less than stellar community, a heavy encouragement on using real money for everything (from dungeon resets to current tier gear to just being able to hold your stuff because bag slots are gated behind real money pay walls), sparse content updates because more focus is spent getting people to use the cash shop, etc.
The thing is, you guys need to stop pretending that FFXIV with "Open World" mechanics would be the same game. There is a reason those mechanics don't exist, and it's because they've been replaced with something else. There's also a reason you miss them, and thats because they offer an experience different than the one FFXIV is trying to give you.
Instanced dungeons = lockout by design. You gain your items by completing content, and the only RNG that stops you is the roulette of which piece drops, which is also mitigated by Tome acquisition -- there is no traditional drop rate. The theme here is forward progress with playtime.
Open World MMOs = lockout by respawn rates and drop %. You gain items by repeated defeat of enemies that drop your item. You gain what you want by getting lucky. Biggest determining factor other than pure RNG is your combined number of roles, I.E. playtime counter. The theme here is repetition.
They are not the same, and adding in the mechanics of one over the other (that drop gear everyone will want) is just pure and simple bad game design. They will compete with one another.
...congratulations? Why don't you just make the switch permanent? Nobody is forcing you to pay to play this, and if you can spend your money elsewhere then what on earth is stopping you.
Look, Square isn't going to suddenly turn this game into Final Fantasy 11. It just isn't going to happen. This game is the way it is because the design team doesn't care for open-world MMO antics, something i IMMEDIATELY noticed when I started playing XIV, and is currently the only reason im still subscribed. It's clear the game is catering more to people like me, and not you.
So i'd honestly suggest you just save the frustration and quit. I'm not even kidding. I've played my fair share of MMOs, and if you are annoyed with the general design path of the game, you're eventually just going to hate it anyway. It isn't going to change.
