I would then guess that if SQE had decided to say "Find yourself a strapping lad" to all the guys in the quest, that you would remember the "general view" of love and not focus on your view of it? I would hope that you wouldn't; I would hope that you would air the same disappointment with SQE as we are now as it never feels good to be on the receiving end of this kind of thing.
I would find the quote strange given that my character is a man,but I would not give it a second thought, I am not given to project myself into my characters. The same can be said when a man plays as a woman despite being heterosexual and being told he needs to find a guy. It is at the end your psychology that does not allow you to enjoy the content subjectively without asking SE to help you project yourself as a homosexual man.
The game just cannot cater to every single thing, it is a permeating effect in every aspect of life.
The universal status quo on romance is still generally man and woman, imagine if they had to put every single type of attraction out there?

Personally I wouldn't give a rat's behind about valentine's day, it is a waste of time and money, Why would I care for a loved one on a single day when there are 364 other days to also do it?
