It would be interesting... Running from a Behemoth, jump in a lake/ocean only to be eaten by Leviathan who comes out of nowhere... Ya jumping and Swimming not needed but it would be a cool scenario ^^

Out of your list, there are a few that failed (AoC, Rift, Warhammer, Aion *IMO*) and those that are already getting criticized (TERA). Again, my point is that jumping is not standard for MMOs and is not needed for them to be successful. There is currently 0 need for jump to be implemented into the game. There are no houses to jump onto, there are no bosses that require a skilled timed jump from platform to platform, there is none of that. I'm fine with jumping in MMOs (played PWI for a good 2 years, WoW for 3 weeks, LOTRO for a month, Aion for a couple of months, and I STILL play Allods and RoM), but it just does not fit in some MMOs (like Final Fantasy). And again, since some people are hard headed, MY POINT IS THAT JUMPING IS NOT STANDARD.
While some of those are not "successful" they are still alive (same situation as FFXIV!? nearly.) Rift didn't flop, don't know where you got that from, and Aion is the single most popular MMORPG in South Korea. Also, I can promise you they didn't fail due to jumping.

I said it was standard because I wanted the video you said you might make.

Jumping may not be standard, but it is fairly common, and is being seen more and more predominantly in the new titles coming out, new titles from old publishers, old publishers which used to make games without jump.

Really, I just wanted to make a comment at you because it warms my heart whenever I see someone mention jump and some other person starts freaking out, like you did.

    1.Crafting unrelated minigames (cards, racing..)
2.Add Special monsters (not NM) like “Elites” in other games.
3.Random events (Beastmen’s partys routing to fight, dungeon coffers..)
    4.Pets system (feed, interact, grown)
    5.More quests

Bonus. More client options (hide gear parts, fix sound volume for weather and doors, more chat tabs, chat colors, etc)

I just get tired of hearing the same crap, repeatedly. Also, when you said that the games didn't fail due to jump, the same applies to the games without jump. They won't fail due to the lack of jump. This goes for FFXIV too. There are what..maybe 20% of the people that are still playing who want jump...Let's say that there are 60% of the playerbase still here. That's 40% that will remain and another 40% that "might" come back when it gets better. This also isn't accounting for the PS3 people who are used to playing games without jump features.

Yes, it is becoming more common, but so is anime-style hair lol is this "standard?"

Rift didn't flop, no, but it DID fail because its just another cookie-cutter with HD-ish graphics. The only cool thing about it, for me, are the zone battles. Aion is the most popular game in Korea, but Halo Reach is one of the most popular games in the US....this doesn't mean its good.

I never said they did fail due to not having jump, however when a large group of people playing a game request something, it doesn't hurt to add it. Especially when the feature being requested, jump, has no negative impacts on other players other than "omg it annoys me". People already do things that annoy me in the game and that doesn't stop me from playing.

Also, there are quite a few PS3 games with jumping. And flying. And shooting (RTS). And swimming. And running over hookers. And stealing cars. The list goes on.

And I have no clue where "anime style hair" came from, but if it's popular I don't see why not adding it!!! There is a Final Fantasy Anime after all hehe -_-

lol edit: And have you been playing the same FF series as me? Anime hair seems to be pretty standard.

Rift didn't flop or fail. I personally dislike the game, but that doesn't mean it failed. Just because you don't like something doesn't make it bad. You may not like Halo, but it sure makes a ton of money. It just doesn't suit your tastes apparently. You constantly list your opinions as facts, but the fact is (see what I did there), just because you don't like something, doesn't mean its bad, just as me liking something doesn't make it good. Things are what you perceive them to be, but not everyone will view things in the same light as you. If many people want something, I don't see the harm in adding it as long as it doesn't negatively impact others.

but that's the thing, only a handful of the 14 community wants jump added. Those that do want it added threaten to quit if they don't get it. To that I say "good." If you seriously quit because of a needless feature, then games are not a good hobby for you. Sure, I may have thrown some opinion in there, but Rift actually isn't as successful as it should have been and its all because of the cookie-cutter crap that's thrown in there to please the underage majority.

If you don't play PS3, you wouldn't know about Demon's Souls and if you don't play F2P MMOs, you wouldn't know about Atlantica.

Demon's Souls is a Console JRPG by Atlus. Won Game of the year, for some companies, and was nominated for many more in...2009? I think. It allows the player to recruit up to 2 other party members (Over PSN) to tackle the 6 levels (each with about 4 stages) in the game. Thus, its a MMO.

Atlantica is a turned-based F2P MMORPG released in 2008. Each player controls a team of people, each with it's own class (Minstrel, Cannonist, Gunner, etc). Battles are instanced, but a player may decide to use the aid of up to 2 other party members, each with their own team of fighters. Some of the awards for Atlantica:

"Best Fantasy MMORPG of 2009", MMOHut
"Best Free To Play Game of 2008", Ten Ton Hammer
"2008 Best New Game" Nomination, (voted 3rd), MMORPG.com
"Best Game", Korea Game Awards 2008
"Golden Plume Award for Best Foreign Online Game", China Digital Entertainment Expo and Conference (ChinaJoy) 2008
"Most Innovative Online Game", GameOgre's 2008 Online Game Awards
"Top Free MMO of 2008", "Best Innovation in an MMO of 2008", "Best Gameplay in an MMO of 2008", Onrpg Member's Choice Awards 2008

It remains to be left to speculation what amount of players want jump. If you think that only a handful of players want jump, considering those that aren't playing, then only a handful wanted zones with variety, auto attack, classic jobs, chocobos, dungeons, etc. Lol. They still added them or will be adding them.

As long as we are listing the awards of Games with features we are talking about (or lack thereof), I'll list the awards of Warhammer (lol, yeah...)

    WARHAMMER AWARDS!!!:

    2008
IGN PC: Best of E3 2008-Best MMO

Edit: And being able to invite two players to your game doesn't make it an MMO. As stated, the (M) in (M)MO stands for massively, 2 players doesn't seem all that massive.

the Demon's Souls awards were listed because someone asked what the game was and said that they had never heard of it, probably in a mocking manner. As for Warhammer, it died because of WoW...and the game itself was just clunky.
