I'll do one better: A possible response to these threads. Just replace every mention of WoW and Mists of Pandaria with FFXIV, and pretend the "Sad Quitting WoW Peon" is a "Sad Quitting FFXIV Roegadyn".

* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:

I like this video because even with their great ping a DPS dies to plumes before heart, and a healer after.I knew it would come too
Not all of us can play like this person... if I did it like him, I'd be dead on the first Landslide. I have to be on the move before the marker even appears
According to the forums they should of all jumped off the side there and called it and raged on the forums about how perfect you need to be, but they downed it. hmmm.

that vid very funny and i hope OP watch it
Sure, let SE put the requirements on the box. I see nothing about a perfect connection is required. I have played a few MMO's before this one. FFXI had similar issues to the latency here, but then again you didn't have to dodge or die. Latency is by far the worst on FFXIV that i have seen on many of the MMO's i've played. And the sad part was, 2 of them were free to play MMO's. The reason i'm all for subscription MMO's is so this crap doesn't happen. So here we are, still dealing with massive latency AND paying $14.99 a month? SE must have great marketing skills to pull this off.
A member of my FC have the same prblem, there's nothing wrong with his conection "apparently", he's closer to the server than me, but he can't evade plumes on titan HM because he's getting a ping of 170-200 to google. and ofcurse that's not SE fault, you may see better latency on other MMOs, but its because they mask the lag, and that masking can lead to "cheating".
My friend have his relic, we helped him with titan, and he's a good player, when a perfect coneection is not required (titan HM and EX), he can deal with it and keep playing and paying, feel sorry you can't, but it's not SEs faul, so they wont solve it.
PD: I'm aware about the persistent latency of the game, but most ppl kill titan np with that latency.
Latency has to be fixed. I m having same issue as OP. It blasts me even when I am out of red... nonsense.
I do use pingzapper and that's good, but it actualli is SE fault.
First of all the server refresh rate is 0.3s (now 0.1s only in some instances) that is pretty high. Also the fact that we need a VPN means that SE did not set up proper contracts with european providers, despite not having an EU datacenter and having EU players pay as much as japanese and american players.
So it IS SE fault.
I play other mmos on american servers from europe and i do not experience any latency there. even free MMOS.
I just wanna say mail me your stuffs...I can put your gilz to good use just mail it to me. thanks in advance.
Well, I wont say that leaving because of poor latency is a bad reason to quit. Really, it just comes down to the devil is in the details. If something bothersome is left unattended for too long it wears down on people, from the fact that crafting and gathering are almost completely dependent on repeatable leves to end game economy issues and housing costs. Heck, the fact they made extreme mode fights available via DF and not like Bahamuts Coil (which for turns 1-4 is actually easier) is kind of silly as well and there's plenty of gnashing of teeth on that.
Maybe people payed the 180 days at launch, paying only for 3 months each time or only monthly. In short the people who payed for 90 days at launch and then in december for 180 days (exactly in this order to get to the 270 days) could be in the minority. And the people who have the behemoth could also love the chocobo more.
