Almost Every mmo has endgame lockouts. All of them bro...so if you feel mmo's are a bad game design why did you decide to play one.
Oh dear god, the sheer stupidity in this post just made my day, thank you, for proving that indeed, people can get dumber.
No endgame crafted gear worth using, no rare gear whatsoever, highest ilvl gear obtainable through buying from NPCs, etc.
None of these elements in this MMO, make its endgame/gear progression poorly designed.
I never said lockouts alleviate it, I said they're forced to use them as a result of their poorly designed game.
Always the ARR noobs that like to defend the game.
How fun would it be if they removed tokens all together and made drops from bosses only. A chance to drop one piece of gear per dungeon. You can run it as many times as you want, but with RNG coming into play it would take forever to gear up. I can't tell you how many times Tiamat and Fafnir/nid dropped crystals and that's it. More times than than we saw Gaiters or rid/ebodies. The point being you get a reward for just being there and running content. Yes lockout suck but it keeps people from spamming the same instance 25 times in one day to fully gear themselves and complain there is nothing to do. Would you prefer they change it to where the drops are random with the possibility to drop nothing and them removing lock outs? That's the only viable way to keep their customers engaged, either lock them out from loot or change the way drops are handled.
Let me know how you'd fix it, I want to hear every person who hates the lock out explain how they would set the game up drop wise and still be able to retain a player base after two months.
The endgame crafted gear actually serves as a decent jump off point if you are a new 50, also the crafted ilevel 70 weapons are great for alt classes if you aren't downing ex primals or farming Allagan weapons and have horrible luck with the RNG.
Rare gear? Esplain how "rare" gear would make the end game more interesting, as it is with the RNG being the way it is, any piece of gear can be rare.
Highest ilevel gear being obtainable through Badges/Tokens/whatever you wanna call it, it's rather akin to end game gear being craftable, just skipping the middle man of a player, and yes, it is still on a small "lockout".
Lockouts are used to slow progression down, to give people something to look forward to, instead of, oh look, I spent 3 days straight running this stuff, now I have all the gear in the game, I'm bored now. Or being at the mercy of extreme RNG(which we kinda already are...).
Dynamis had a 3 day lockout as did limbus, it wasn't until recently they changed it to 1 day for both events since they aren't top tier content anymore.
All MMOs have some sort of way to slow progression, because they are in the business of making money and if someone can 100% cap out a mmo in a month then they won't sub that long.
