To summarize how most of the community feels...WTF Square-Enix?
I have mixed feelings about the pricing of FC housing but I feel they went about it the wrong way. I'm not certain how large the largest FC is or where the vast majority of these so called millions of stockpiled gil is being stored but what were they thinking when they decided to make the amount so large.
I'm currently playing on Excalibur and have been playing since about the release of jobs in 1.0 (long enough to be considered legacy but not as long as some of those who dealt with many of the problems from 1.0 - i believe it was around patch 1.22).
I'm happy to see much of the community is outraged by these prices, especially those for the small plots of land. Here is my current theory on why SE did something very stupid. I'm giving SE the benefit of the doubt here, I know it's stupid to do so but.... They stated that the gil calculations per server were excluding the gil held by RMT (yea ok...not likely but w\e - If they knew who the RMT were wouldn't they be banned already?!?!).
The cost of the L plot of land is a bit expensive but....it should be. I feel that it SHOULD be something that only a small majority of FC get to enjoy. I would like the ability to "tour" but I doubt that will be possible.
The M plot of land are too expensive. On excalibur iirc it's about 75-million gil. If they adjusted the price of the M plot of land to be 20 million (what it currently is for the S plot) and reduce the price of the S plot to be 5 mil I think many people would be much happier. I come from a small family-oriented FC. With our ENTIRE gil pooled together, many of us are legacy players (some from the very beginning) we have an entire collected gil of about 3 mil. I know shocker..but many of us are more casual oriented. We have families, jobs, school etc.
I agree it should be something to work for but seriously? 20 Million gil for just a small hut....
So yes some will say TLDR but my theory is this. SE released the prices at this rate because they KNEW their servers wouldn't be capable of supporting the housing area if all were bought out within the first week. They also realized that since there is relatively little progression content being released (for those who are currently farming T5, there is none) this would be a way to keep players busy and occupied for the next three months (farming gil) until they can release new content in 2.2.
