    This overdrive mode is something that would be a great feature for FFXIV to have. This would blow every MMORPG out of the water. You build up your bar and as you progress your move becomes more epic the bar goes through stages 1-4 being the Max.

    If you have multiple players in the party with OVERDRIVE BARS at their max, that is where you can use the BR function; what happens is a mega monster move that everyone in the party participates in. Each person does something EPIC And its random as to what they do.

    The final person that does the final blow does an insane amount of damage to the mob with a really crazy move but its still random as to who finish's it and its EPIC. This will also show all the other companies out there that you are willing to go to the extreme when it comes to battles. We DEFINITELY WANT to see this in this game.

    Keep in mind that the more "epic" the move is, the more likely it is to have a long-ish animation, therefore locking your character into place for an interval of time that might be longer than is convenient.

    I just want to discuss ideas in this post. The actual implementation of the Limit Breaks would be done by the devs. Arguing about the mechanics isn't helping to come up with new and innovative ideas. I can come up with flaws in everything, but what I want to do is promote the ideas so that the devs will look into it and discuss the mechanics for themselves.

    Also I was thinking that there should be a Mini game that happen's to each player that is about to perform there overdrive move, which will determine the accuracy or the type of damage that will be done almost like "Legends of Dragoon" when you would transform into dragoon mode and you would have to play a mini game to determine if all your attack's would land or miss, also the mini game would test the player's skills because the damage or moves that will be perform will be in the mini game so if they hit all points in the mini game the moves that will be performed will be overdrive and they have a limited amount of time to complete the mini game, If they miss 1 IN THE MINI GAME THEN THE MOVES THAT WILL BE PERFORMED ARE NOT AS EPIC, BUT IF EVERYONE HITS ALL PERFECT THEN OMG MODE!!!

    Completely agree. SE needs to see the "ideas" not the criticism about something that only they control anyways. Of course, it would hafta be a seperate meter from HP, MP, and TP. But posting agreements and disagreements back and forth won't make it more or less so. I'm thinking Rentahampster is just trolling their view because that's not the first time I saw them doing that.

    Here's some things I was thinking could affect the overdrive bar, of course depending on class:

    physical damage taken
    physical damage dealt
    attacks that hit
    attacks dodged
    critical hits made (that'd make it a pain unless it was just another method of gain ontop of another.)
    magic damage dealt
    hp restored with abilities/spells
    mp restored with abilities/spells
    tp gained or lost (would hafta be nerfed so tp only helps fill it, and super slowly too.)
    spells resisted
    enhancing effects used
    enfeebling effects land

    The bar could have a 100,000 point requirement to be filled, at a rate of 1 ever effect listed above, and 1/300 tp gained or lost, 1/100 hp gained or lost, and 1/100 mp gained or lost. Also, the meter would hafta be remembered, without resetting with logging out or zoning. Otherwise it'd almost never be seen full by casual players.

    Edit: Added "or lost" after tp gained.

    I looked at both the videos you posted earlier and that brought back some good memories man :3

    THAT is the type of awesomeness we need to be dishing out! No more of this stagnant, boring grandpa battle. If it was good for old school PS1 games then it can be done 10 times better here AND make battle super epic!

    I am VERY MUCH giving this idea a thumbs up!

    We NEED this type of gameplay implemented! This type of stuff will save the FFXIV fanbase from dying of boredom.

    FURTHERMORE: You CAN'T seriously play epic games likes XENOGEARS (PS1), LEGEND OF DRAGOONS, LEGEND OF LEGAIA, GUARDIANS CRUSADE, and all the other epic rpgs that have came before FFXIV and say that they did not totally rock the genre!

    FFXIV is a next-gen MMO people. It NEEDS to surpass SEs legacy and began a new one that will not be forgotten anytime soon.

    Many of the older games were very good and I think newer games are good in a different way. The playability and encapturing feeling of the older games are what made them big and why there is a fanbase for them still. The newer games are graphically beautiful and innovative. I think if we can add the enticement of the older games to the beauty of the current game then we will have a great game.

    Legend of Dragoon was an awesome game and when you did the minigame to perfection you felt amazing. I understand the implementation of a minigame would be a debate in itself, but I like the ideas that are coming about. I want the Limit Breaks to be outstanding and to create that feeling of awe. It's the type of moment when people around you are amazed and the chat is going crazy with comments.

    I think we have the bar building ideas pretty solid. Any Ideas on Class Specific Limit Breaks?

    Gladiator
    -Unyielding: The player enters a state in which he absorbs all attacks from the foe without taking damage. Following the end of this stage the player deals all physical damage that would have been received.

    Marauder
    -Bloodthirsty: The player has increased attack power and the party heals an amount proportional to the damage dealt.

    Lancer
    -Dynamic Strikes: The player has a faster attack speed and each attack has a stun effect added to it.

    ***These are examples of modes that could be entered with this system. If we are opposed to modes then I will try to give examples as to abilities that can be used while the bar is full.***


    Gladiator
    - Stunning Denial: The gladiator performs a shield bash that applies a long-winded stun that leaves the foe unable to perform actions for the duration.
    Marauder
    -Rekindling Strikes: The marauder performs a brutal combination of slashing attacks which heal party members.

    Lancer
    -Meticulous Assault: The Lancer performs several swift thrusts that decrease the defense of the foe and deal a large amount of damage.

    These are just examples of ideas. I would love to here more ideas from other people. I'm not trying to sell these ideas as they are. I feel very adamant towards the idea of Limit Breaks and Overdrives. If you don't like the ideas that I have in terms of skills please suggest ideas.
