Looking at the notes, I only see the loss of Thunder and the Virus change as the only nerfs Summoner got. Considering the Thunder change is a nerf to all magic classes other than Thaumaturge and Black Mage, you only specifically got a nerf to Virus.

There's only one damage dealing magic class that isn't a Thaumaturge though, so that point seems kind of silly.
Hell if anything it's the other way around. The virus change more significantly impacts BLM and WHM because their (non-traited) virus is potentially not going to be used at all.
I made that point because I used Thunder on my WHM at the start of a battle before I have to start any serious healing, and only if I know the healing won't have to be spammed often, otherwise I wouldn't cast it. But that extra DPS did help whittle down some foes. On a slightly different note, that change to Blizzard II won't mean it'll see a use on my WHM for anything other than FATEs, because if I'm going to be that close to enemies, I'd rather be spamming Holy.
Man all the raids collapsing because the white mage can't get the thunder up on the boss... I can see the panic spread across Eorzea. This was a slap in the face to summoners, and summoners only, when it comes to raids. Lets be real here.I made that point because I used Thunder on my WHM at the start of a battle before I have to start any serious healing, and only if I know the healing won't have to be spammed often, otherwise I wouldn't cast it. Is this to imply that raids (dungeons) will collapse because the summoner can't get thunder up? I think you overvalue the importance of your thunder. Yes you're losing some dps, but guess what! Crap is still gonna die even if you don't get to thunder it.

Nope. The pet also. Obey now will work as steady. I'm not sure why there's a steady anymore anyways.
I don't understand why people are upset with the changes to Obey and Steady.
Under normal circumstances (at least for summoner), pets should be set to Obey and Guard. This means the Egi will use its standard attack unless commanded to do something else. The changes to Obey and Steady just make it easier for scholar to control the various utility skills of the faeries.

Well, you can assume people posting in a summoner-focused thread know how to play their class already without spelling that out for them. The problem is the implication of the patch notes, as presented, is that pets WON'T do their basic attack anymore while set to Obey. If this is just a mistranslation (as it might be) then no big, but if you have to constantly nag garuda-egi to keep doing damage then that's a gigantic pain in the neck...!I don't understand why people are upset with the changes to Obey and Steady.

Or let me rephrase, why would a Summoner want to use Obey + Steady?

A summoner use steady to stop the pet from attacking all together. Obey would be used so that the pet would auto attack and, in the case of garuda-egi, use contagion when needed. Now it could mean that what they are trying to say is that you can now select steady and obey at the same time. Instead of going guard and obey at the same time, which was the defacto. If I can still guard and obey then there is no problem. Yes, losing thunder sucks but losing 80dps because Garuda would not attack in obey would be atrocious.
