I'm talking about open dungeons in general LIKE in FFXI. I didn't specifically declare that this game needs to imitate every aspect of FFXI in terms of the content IN the dungeons. I'm just talking from a perspective as a former FFXI player. Yes, it was unfair in many senses. I can agree on that.

I didn't play much of FFXI, but I have played open dungeons in other games and greatly enjoy them. Unfortunately, we will never see them in ARR as they're explicitly outside the current game design.

Omg!! I remember the Chateau d'Oranguille (before it all got easy) and my sneak wearing off and knowing that one aggroing Leech would mean almost certain death...that made my sphincter spasm a time or two....good times ;D perhaps exciting will come later in this game.

I loved the old days for sure.

It would be hard to implement an open dungeon. I mean I would hate for any event in dungeon to break my immersion by some Player Character miner "gettin his ore". But thats not to say the miner has no place there, at all.

They scratch your back, you scratch theirs when they need something. Unspoken rule.
Compare this "everything can be solo-ed". You don't ask for help. People don't ask for help. Everyone keeps quiet...how is the community going to develop like that?

    Yes, I miss them.

That's all. Nothing important to add, but I do miss them.

No, you are right. And i did help them, but that is my personality. I like to help out. The subtle shift is that nowadays, people don't need help specifically. They can just DF it. However, I voluntarily give my help. There is a shift from general community friendliness to a FC friendliness.

Linear gear progression is apparently what everyone wants, probably because it's easy to see what's better and you don't need to think!
All these new people to mmos will never get to experience the old XI (pre-aby). XI wasn't a game, it was an experience. That's probably why I get bored with most mmos now, they're all the same / too easy. I'd love to go back to XI, but then I remember what it's like now :/

That's also probably why blm went from how it was in XI, to just spamming 1-3 spells in XIV, no using different spells on different mobs, no MB, infinite mp, today's gamers can't handle anything more than that it seems.

No matter what people say or how they claim to have "hated XI", we all know what we really wanted was XI with XIV's graphics. Some people say a game like how XI used to be wouldn't work today, but from how mmos are going, no one has Thal's Balls to try it, they just keep chucking out the same thing every time. Not sure why SE went the WoW route, when they have a game that's lasted over a decade(and still bringing in money) they could have used for ideas, considering all these games that play/feel like WoW end up dying in a year or so (not saying XIV will, just an example that most do)

Honestly I just don't see the point. If Sastasha was open, then what? It would be nothing more than just another area for people to complain about. Content needs more of a purpose than just for the sake of nostalgia.
