Evolution is everywhere. In the past our GOD was Super Mario and Battle Toads. Lets ask developers to make FF14 in 2D to satisfy our nostalgia (sarcasm). Stupidity in in the airJust imagine what it would be like if XIV had the xp death penalty as XI did, die enough times and you would surely lose a level and most of your gear would be unwearable...man i can just see the rage in these forums now if it did have it. lol
ahhhh i miss the good old days of XI sometimes.
Player
It will probably be like Abyssea in XI, you can turn on buffs if you wish, or not. But, in Abyssea, you really should, or you may perish quick.
there is a difference between challenging and bs that was bsJust imagine what it would be like if XIV had the xp death penalty as XI did, die enough times and you would surely lose a level and most of your gear would be unwearable...man i can just see the rage in these forums now if it did have it. lol

plus if you actually think this game resembles hard atm then you are an idiot
plus you are confusing missing being challenged with nostalgia, i have been challenged in modern games too, monster hunter and dark souls are some that immediately come to mind, but they are very few and developers seem to think we are all babies that need to be coddled and im so sick of that i cant ever have a challenge anymore and it sucks.

Lol yes that was my nostalgia creeping out and i have to apologize i did not mean to imply that i would like to see said feature in XIV, it was just my own wondering how today's MMO generation of players would react if said feature was introduced in XIV and nothing more.
And Onyxys maid a valid point, times have changed and today's MMO games cater to a different generation of MMO players, it is not like how we used to remember MMOs where we grind hours upon hours to get to the next level or for a particular piece of gear, todays MMOs cater to a generation where most people do not have a lot of time and so they try to make things not so much quick and easy...just less time consuming than older MMOs.there is a difference between challenging and bs that was bs

And sadly that is the state of today's MMO market...if you want to see more harder and challenging content and less hand holding from the developers in said content then the only option you have is to try and have your voice heard and maybe more like minded people will join you, weather it be in this forum or other type of outlet...if you let your voice sound loud enough...you never know who might hear or what might happen.
You think i don't know that?problem is if people try to do that we just end up going unheard seeing as the sad thing is the idiots that like everything handed to them are the majority these days, no-one bothers to try for skill and because of that atm if this game doesn't get some more replay value for me im just gonna switch to archeage cause that game has my interest for not only being sandbox the combat looks like it will finally be what im looking for, as much as i like this game the casual pandering is turning me further and further away.
and if you dont know what i mean just look at this thread, every-time someone put down a reason why they were opposed to this idea they basically just got the response "lol hardcore" and were ignored, that happens all the damn time so im sick of these fucking stupid ideas trying to make the game even easier than it already is, yoshi could have tried to go half and half between pleasing casuals and pleasing everyone else but nope he has to go full casual leaving only a very small endgame for everyone else and even then dumbing it down for the casual gamers

I think, that game must give pleasure to any players- hardcore players and casual. Hardcore players for their good skill must gain good reward by completing very hard content. Casual players can not gain such rewards, because cant complete such content- maybe for them is another way to gain analogical reward. And I know one thing- main story, the lore, must be able to know by ANY players- hardcore and casual and I dodnt see any reasons why hardcore content must block casual players from main story and lore. It must NOT BE. So, or hardcore content must be aside from main story and lore, or must be different modes to complete such content- suitable mode(s) for casual players
What they should do later, once they deemed it is necessary to go through Binding Coil Story as part of the Main storyline, is to include a Story Mode of Binding Coil that provides a separate path from the Raid Version.
Story Mode version is solo instanced but the path is different from the Binding Coil Raid Version. Story Mode version should also include a bit more cutscenes for each Story Turn stage going deeper into the Allagan civilization and their History. Being a Solo instance version of Binding Coil for Main storyline use, you will not get any raid rewards but only basic gil rewards.
Raid Mode will be the basic normal Binding Coil we have now but will lack cutscenes exclusive to Story Mode version because we are taking a separate path where we do not encounter the historical records or information we will encounter in Story Mode version.
IDEA!!! Why not to make a usual way- to unlock hardmode (for hardcore players) with rare loot all players must complete normal mode with its main story and lore. Good? And everyone pleased
