i just wish i could turn the battle music off completely. i can either turn off all music or no music. i like the ambient background music just hate that it gets interrupted every time i initiate combat

1.0 battle music was great and unique but like everything else it was sadly replaced with more copy paste, just like all those copy pasted mobs from XI, XII and XIII.
I am/was very disappointed to hear that ARR won't be having different battle themes for each region like 1.x did. I think, even though the matched it to the repective area, it came out pretty cheap. I mean, just adding another instrument isn't going to cut it, tbh.
See, with "option 1" it's actually a relevant battle theme to the series and actually something different than the same battle theme used everywhere with different instruments. No, that FF2 remix is corny and shouldn't be anything more than a cameo theme.
I'd rather have this:

This.
I am so freaking tired of the combat music. Let me turn it off.
Doesn't make it a good thing.
I was so very impressed when I got to Coil and saw... pugils and coeurls and pelicans. Oh joy! /sarcasm

You do know a lot of those 'copy and pasted' mobs were already in 1.0 too? But no one cared then. And 1.0's battle music was divisive - some loved the electric guitars that Uematsu is becoming synonymous with, others hated it. I didn't mind some of the tracks, but a few got on my nerves. But that's just my opinion.![]()
I'm talking about throughout the entire series - Even the first game was a copy/paste of D&D Monsters. It's pretty much what the series is known for and wasn't really a "bad thing" until the recent "complain about everything" generation![]()
I've never played another FF game in my life, so I have no frame of reference for this game and other FF games. There's also no need for personal insults, thanks. Is it so wrong to expect something more than just pugils and coeurls and pelicans in the hardest content in the game? Yea, it's trash, but a good raid would have unique trash tailored to the setting of the instance!
P.P.S. Even if all FF games share common enemies they always used to give them new designs or looks most of the time, instead of being directly imported from the previous games' files. I'll give you enemy recolors though, that's practically a given.
