I really like the trash combat music from coil and how it seamlessly transitions from peaceful to combat. Wish they would do this more often with combat music.

I've always felt the music in this game was very disappointing since I played phase 4, but majority seemed to like it. If 1.0 got one thing right, it was the music. I don't know who the hell is the main composer here, but it feels generic AF and totally uninspired.
Aside from tracks in 1.0 being superior imo, it actually sounded like it belongs in a FF game, unlike most of what is in ARR. Just a shame Nubuo's talent went to waste. *Sigh*
Funny thing? I bet people like the CT music more than the other ARR music, only so few ARR tracks that isn't generic is good. Soken is a good composer, but his music for Garuda/Titan/Ramuh/FF2 Remix/CT (from what we heard) is the actual good ones. All they really had to do was make the soundtrack a remix/remaster of other FF themes (this is a fanservice title remember) and it woulda been great.I've always felt the music in this game was very disappointing since I played phase 4, but majority seemed to like it. I mean, Ys Online did it - ARR could do it too.

I enjoyed 1.0's music but do not feel in any way that it is better than 2.0's soundtrack.

I'm somethere along these lines as well.
I was put off by the overuse of electric guitar that 1.0 had, which I felt didn't fit places like La Noscea or the Black Shroud. Uematsu's tracks managed to shine whenever the score moved away from synth and electric guitars (the old Coerthas battle theme is still one of my favorite tracks from 1.0). Admitedly, he had some concept art shots but next to no actual info on the sutff he was asked to make (hence why Ul'dah sounded like a tropical paradise rather than a city in the middle of the desert).
Mizuta Naoshi's tracks do tend to lean towards a certain "lightness", though I attribute that to the fact that they are composed mimicking the old style of music from long ago, where tracks had to be short and memorable because you were going to loop them ad infinitum on an 8/16-bit cartridge.
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)

I detect current dev team worship in hopes one day they'll let me hang out with them.

I'd like it if there was an option to disable battle music, since some of the dungeon themes are pretty cool and I'd prefer to have them play constantly.

When I think of ARR's music, the first thought that pops into my head is "Music? what music? there's music in this game?", followed by "Oh, you mean the battle theme?"
Seriously though, it was a terrible idea to only play the zone musics during certain times, and dungeon musics at the very beginning. More often than not you simply don't hear jack, and the vast majority of what people usually end up hearing is just the same battle music over and over and over and over and over again.

I wish you could pick a song you like and let that be your default battle song if you want. If you don't want battle music to be able to turn it off, while leaving the non-combat music on.
To be able to use Limsa's battle theme from 1.0 would be nice in 2.0. I like it the most.
The music in FFXIV ARR are good.
& I love FFV/FFVI music ,they had beautiful, lovely melodies.
I wish there will be more music like these.
