XI also took much longer to level up, and by the time you had all the classes you needed leveled, more content had been added. Also XI was released state-side at the same time as the first full expansion. We haven't had an expansion yet, 2.1 isn't an expansion either.
Hydra - Red cone behind? Dodge.
Hydra - Red cone in front? Dodge.
Hydra - Circular AoE within a distance? Unless you're new to how SE does dragon fights in their 3D games, you'll k now it's all within a certain distance.
Hydra - Fear? Run in as it's a ranged away from the mob.
Hydra - Pops adds? Well I guess you never killed adds in a fight prior to Hydra before.
Honestly, Hydra's mechanics are...nothing new MMO wise or in XIV itself. By that point you've fought bosses with similar mechanics (Hi Brayflox, Stone Vigil and primals (unless you jumped into relic before doing primals)) People that wipe to hydra usually wipe because of Fear or getting hit with absolutely everything it throws at you.
But in all honesty...given XIV's design and Yoshi stance of "casual gameplay", content won't last long unless you absolutely don't play this game at any kind of steady pace lol. Especially if they make it a habbit of releasing pushed back content. For example what if Content for 2.2 gets pushed back to 2.3? A lot of MMOs don't have the benefit of being able to say "whoops sorry, no content now check back in 6 months!"XI also took much longer to level up, and by the time you had all the classes you needed leveled, more content had been added. Gearing out every job takes a heck of a lot longer than gearing one. Eventually I hope to have every job that I play (which is currently 5 of them) geared with relic +1s and AF2 (or AF3 once that's out). I won't be done with the current content until I've completed that. But in all honesty...given XIV's design and Yoshi stance of "casual gameplay", content won't last long unless you absolutely don't play this game at any kind of steady pace lol. Once again a huge blow out and argument over the misunderstanding of the semantics used.
OP said: Does SE not realise their game has no content?
Blatant falsehoods are in this Thread Subject. Thats all some people were pointing out. They were just saying there IS content. Not a word was said to the effect that it was "good" content, "fun" content, or even "optimal" content, just that there was content.
Sayura_ I understand you dont find all the content in the game to be something you enjoy, I can accept that. But there is content there and more is coming. Whether or not its content that interests you or not, it is coming and it is there right now.
Remember folks, its a game and games are meant to be fun. Once its not fun anymore, you should find something else to do. Getting this upset over a game is rather silly.
How come you don't tell people that when others think this game lacks and others people don't?
Apparently, you are the "truth" as you said to me a few pages ago.
So no opinions for me!

I never said I know the "truth". But what is the "truth" is that there are other "means" for Leveling up. It's just not "FATE" fast. I got my First 50 Dungeon/Levequest/Hunting Log style. I never touched FATEs ( Outside the Lightning FATE because I want that gear).
That's the only "Truth" I claimed, and it is a fact. In 2.1 it will be even more of a fact to use Dungeons.
As to your post:
"The game only lacks if the person in question can't find the content enjoyable" Others will find content people hate enjoyable. It all depends on the person.
The game does need more content, that's for sure. For a launch, there is plenty to do. It's just that some people don't find some content enjoyable. ( Which is different)
(Amount of content in the game Vs Content X player enjoys.)
I'll take that as a compliment :P

I think for some people, it can feel like content has dried up once the main storyline has been resolved (or at least resolved for now). While you were still doing the main plot, things seemed fresh and there still felt like the promise of a lot more in store. But once you're done with Praetorium and all the cutscene goodness is over, the remainder feels much more hollow by comparison. Yes, there are indeed class storylines and most people go right into leveling another class, but it never feels as fleshed out or as compelling as the main storyline quests did... class/job quests for the most part are like shadows of those quests; they're a lot more few and far-between as well.
Taking that into consideration, it's easy to see how content would be viewed as being non-existent in endgame... People were given a multiple-course feast, and then when that's over there's only scarce leftovers to tide you over til the next big meal.
