I'de like to point out that in a next-gen MMO there is no reason not to jump. It can't be that hard to program and just throw in. There are seriously people out there who won't play a game just because of no jumping and not that many people out there that will honestly not play a game because you CAN jump, even if they complain about it ruining their immersion. If jumping isn't a pain in the d!ck to implement (which it might be because of the weird engine they use) why not just throw it in and get a few more players. More money in their pocket when they start charging.
You fail to realize you have to completely redo the whole world map for jumping pretty much. Or you will end up with people in places they should not be able to be... Sorta like in Aion how you could jump off the world map. With no orriginal intent to have a 3rd Axis to worry about the whole world was not designed with it that in mind... To add it they need to completely redo half the world maps.I'de like to point out that in a next-gen MMO there is no reason not to jump. It can't be that hard to program and just throw in. Jump, implemented properly would probably take months and months to add. And it was pushed to the back burner to get out things that are more important. Such as battle system and content.
Jump might be neat, but with no real purpose and without content to keep player and attract new ones it is worthless addition to the game... So them not doing it anytime soon and putting all their focus on more important things was the best move they have done.
What if the game was designed around a 3rd axis but they didn't have the time to complete it or add the jump animation? We have no idea what their coding looks like. They might have the correct coding for it already, it's just incomplete like the rest of this half a$$ed game. XD As i said, if it's not a pain in the d!ck to do, there's no reason not to. From them delaying it, it does seem like it would be a pain, otherwise we would probably have it by now. So ya, if its tough to do and takes a lot of time, we can all wait, otherwise it would be a nice addition.
We know it looks like spaghetti. The game was coded badly, which is why lots of bugs and changes are taking so long to implement. What if the game was designed around a 3rd axis but they didn't have the time to complete it or add the jump animation? it doesn't has a lot of bugs it's just sucks
Do I have to? Can I point to some of the many MMOs which regardless of their commercial success are very solid on the technical side instead?

As soon as I have 15 years of experience with video game coding, a project already coded on a new platform, 5 years, a huge budget, esteem, and degrees...I'll get back to you. But before that, sorry but a game with this large a budget with this much of a star-cast should not have been coded as badly as it is.

Hard to say this unless you've seen the code yourself. The only problem XIV suffers from technical wise is the server side nature of the interface. Every other MMO chose against using one for obvious reasons.
