I'm perfectly fine with no jumping. Platforming just seems so forced in MMO's.
"Well... we gave them the option to jump... might as well make 'em use it."

I personally cannot stand platformers to begin with, regardless of context. I said it before, and I'll say it again that I have no problem quitting for good if I feel SE is going to introduce platforming elements into this game.
Yeah, plenty of Mario and Megaman games out there that sates the platforming need, though as the new MMO gamers said:No, they don't want "an MMO platformer" they just want sensible functionality. Having jump does not mean needing to jump all the time. People aren't looking for Super Mario 3-D Land: The MMO Version. WoW has jumping, and it's occasionally needed/useful but is not over-used by the developers. WoW is not a platformer game.What they want is an MMO-Platformer, not an MMORPG and not even an MMO'A'RPG.
Both sides of this debate love taking their arguments to extremes, how about a little sensibility around here?
Having jumping != "platforming." The ability to jump does not automatically make a game a "platformer" game.

Funny, you're taking your argument to the extreme and not even bothering to read what all is being stated. You're not even bothering to account for... CONTEXTUAL JUMPING. Implementing jumping with purpose comes down to one of two things: either it becomes a platformer, or jumping is strictly a contextual action.No, they don't want "an MMO platformer" they just want sensible functionality. This wouldn't be so difficult if the people against jumping weren't presenting asinine reasons like "I hate seeing people jump" and "Jumping makes me think of WoW, and because WoW is the devil I don't want it".No, they don't want "an MMO platformer" they just want sensible functionality. * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
the same people for it keep stating "i should be allowed to bunny hop" and so on too, so its no different

				Considering that I'd want jumping to jump up ledges, hop over fences and not having to run around every pebble I see on the road, having jump still makes far more sense than being against it.

				I wouldn't mind jumping if there were predetermined jumping locations. (i.e. FFXIII/Pokemon) Where it made backtracking a little easier. Then again, the Return feature really kills the journey back.

				IMO jump should be triggered like on FFXIII. You run to places that connect, a button to jump over appears, you press it, the character does it on its own.
Why not just make the whole game a corridor, that way the game could tell you where to go the whole way through? Oh, incidentally that's another winning feature from everyone's favourite game, FFXIII.
