    Azurymber thread disliking FFXIV's direction.

    This is new and unique.

Sorry, but reputation precedes certain individuals, including myself, who are consistent with trends. It's hard to take seriously that a magic is lost in the game when it never really charmed the one posting it.

As far as FFXIV losing it's magic. No, is hasn't done so for me. I knew well enough to not dive headfirst into a new MMO's endgame scene. I knew to pace myself as I progressed, I knew to embrace player generated content.

If it does lose it's magic for me, I won't be making a thread about it crying on the soapbox. I'll leave, quietly, and play games that entertain me.

Quit a few people arguing about time sink not being challenging, just tedious. It is true some activities in FF11 were a boring time sink with minimal challenge but tell me how you felt when you finally equipped your Rajas ring?

Felt great. But at what cost. We don't all have that kind of time.

And if by "some activities" you meant "level grinding and party building", then you're talking about MOST of the game. There were nights where I couldn't even do ANYTHING because I couldn't get a party together within the time I had to play (this is after yelling for a couple hours).

Relieved. Probably not the psychological state you want a player to be in when they finish some content. I think my exact words were, "Thank &*$ing god that is done with."

Agree with some things from OP. I'm just logging sometimes to realize the game kinda sucks, the combat is boring, FATEs are boring and doesn't make the game feel more alive for me, even the dungeons are boring. And then i log off.

While it has improvements from the previous version i liked it more the direction of 1.0.

I would love a FFXI-2, Square should think about going about making that. Make it open world also then I'm game.

Alot People complained about the way XIV:ARR was going and alot quittet with the end of the beta tests already. Yoshi isnt listening to the Community or atleast not to the ones who would love to see more aspects from XI instead of WoW.

Alot XI Players where looking for a new "home" when abyssea in XI came out. If XI would have failed there maybe wouldnt be new FF MMORPG, they treat the old XI community like trash, but we not asking for a XI copy at all, all we want is Open World Feeling and Exploration, doing Endgame with the whole LS/FC and not just with 8 People once a week, old and big XI linkshell they came from XI to XIV:ARR dissolved already and i think everyone knows why.

It was possible to solo on Final Fantasy 11. It was just challenging and took effort and possibly the right sub job. But that's how soloing should be... else there is no incentive to group up with others and the game turns into a single-player game. They also added campaigns you could do solo that gave pretty good experience. And soloing was also useful for training your skill levels. It wasn't always about getting the most experience on that game.

And why is it bad if a game takes a lot of time to complete? That's better than speeding through it so you can then be bored doing the same thing over and over in the "endgame"

As I have said, I don't think it was the "party grinding" that held Final Fantasy 11 back. It was their emphasis on HNM camping. That was easily one of the worst video game mechanics ever designed, and I don't blame anyone who quit over that.

It wasn't the length of time to "complete the game" that drove me away. I don't mind a long game...in fact I enjoy it and think it brings alot more satisfaction than "eaiser" games like we have now in FFXIV.

What I have a problem with is individual components of the game taking a long time. I'd like to be able to log on as a casual and still get something accomplished. However, that wasn't the case. You had to dedicate your time in HUGE CHUNKS to accomplish something as simple as building a party and leveling. Hell...it's the only MMO I played where you actually needed a static just to level in a consistent manner!!

If a game takes 1,000,000 hours to complete, that's fine by me. But I'd like to be able to do it in small pieces. Not 6 hour commitments every day.
