    **Continued**

Spending 8-9 hours farming coffers for your AF was fun at the start, but could become aggravating if you didn't have a map tabbed with the spawn points.

Sky was cool, until the RMT started farming the triggers and ruining your LS' raid night. Also, several people always had the task of farming them, making endgame more of a job than necessary. Sea was the only safe haven for awhile until Aht Urgan's release.

I noticed you're maxed out on all battle classes, and are working on your crafts. You're just burned out is all. The game is easy for now, sure, but just give it a few patches/expansions. Give yourself a goal to look forward to (I'm excited for the release of NIN).

All in all, the game is still in its infancy. Give it time and it may have what you want to attain from it eventually.

:\ Not really. I'm also someone who loved FFXI and the thing is, when you load up FFXI, if you loved the world's atmosphere, gameplay, story or job style, you'll probably like what content it produces from there on out because FFXI will always be FFXI in that design which is why when Abyssea rolled around, many if not most players prior to it felt it ruined the very core of the game while others who disliked FFXI prior to it felt it saved the game.

If you load up FFXIV and it just feels, bland and the reason being the battle system, Quest based progression or corridor spelunking (Irony considering many spit on XIII because of "long hallways" yet giving ARR absolute praise) it won't become the MMO you want as core systems hardly ever go through a revamp without a launch. ARR's atmosphere would be amazing if it wasn't so...generic in design. They wanted to meet a standard and did so in strides.

Now on to more pressing matters. No where in the new event does it show you getting snow's hat or lightning's wig which makes me think the new hairs you unlock during the quests are going to be some BS at the new barber in 2.1

You ever think that maybe the reason the "magic" is gone is because you became older, more experienced and probably desensitized? Sure when I first started playing games it was a new experience and I was easily stimulated, but after years of playing I'm not going to get the same effect even when a new game comes out as I did when the entire experience was new. It's like horror movies. When I was young, a common monster movie with a werewolf popping up could have given me nightmares. Today, blood splatter, zombies eating human entrails alive with ear-piercing screams in an accurate depiction of hell, meh.

I, for one, never had that experience in FFXI of "danger" running through zones or the "magic" of encountering new things. I already had over 15 years of experience playing other games to use as a base to FFXI so the feeling was greatly diminished vs if it were one of the first games I've ever played. I got to Jeuno, first try, by myself, from the dunes. No aggro, no getting lost, no sneak/invis, on monk at level 18. Just from years of playing other games to have a reasonable understanding of how the mechanics of FFXI was to work.

The thrill is still there, but much less than before and does not last anywhere near as long just because I have already had that experience even if it isn't the same game.

Interestingly enough, XIV hooked me since B3 and I don't feel tired of it at all.

Some games just click with you, some may click but either take some time or the click fades away, and some... just not at all. Ye olde WoW never hooked me, Ragnarok used to make me busy for no more than 2 weeks... And I have been playing XIV everyday since B3.

Personally i still get that experience in single player rpgs. Ni no kuni, darksouls, ff12, Skyrim, Xenoblade, even the new pokemon.
I had years of experience of gaming before i got ffxi at NA launch.
FFXI just had this amazing way of making a giant open world fun. There were so many things to do, so many places to discover, etc.
It wasn't always about the endgame. There were tons of things to do while leveling up to 75. And there were lots of times where you could spend hours on one quest (e.g. af1 quests), meet new people, and feel like you seriously accomplished something when you completed it

Nothing in XIV feels that way. And it has nothing to do with new games. GW2 is easy as well. But pulling off the stuff you need for map completion in some zones is -hard.- And when you get full completion, it feels like you accomplished a lot.
Even in SWTOR there were areas where mobs were challenging.

XIV is honestly the easiest game I have ever played. (never played WoW)

And it feels like that was the point. Make it so people can hit lvl 50 in a few days and then spam ak over and over again and maybe coil once in a while

This, right here. I started in UO. Man, when I think about UO, I froth at the mouth. It was glorious. Open world, literal sandbox. Then EQ. My first time adventuring through the dwarven lands, the chess board with giant skeletons, the zone that was along the ocean and lead to a whole zone of undead and a spooky house! Navigating the sewers of Kazik Thule!

But let's be realistic. That's call nostalgia. I loved playing those games, at the time. If I went back now? It wouldn't be the same. The game hasn't lost its magic. The genre hasn't, either. The magic is gone because you've been around the block a few times. You've seen what there is to see, several times with different coats of paint. Even when games do add unique features, and they do, your mastery of the system is such that you quickly assimilate it as "just another feature."

If you want the magic, try a new genre. Try a new genre, with an entirely new theme. Try a new hobby.

I miss the danger and excitement and feeling of accomplishment I used to get from MMOs.

I do enjoy playing FFXIV - for what it is..
but I doubt it will ever be something great.. something that I could reminisce about.

Going to wait and listen to facts about how we're in a new age, and a FFXI-2 mmo will fail.

    blah blah blah
