Some people have multiple jobs and like doing dungeons on jobs that get a faster queue, i personally will do WP/AK on WAR and see WHM or ARC equips drop and want to greed them but at the same time i dont bitch or honestly even ask for it, if i get it i get it, if i dont i dont, its no big deal

I do the same, I have whm and war at 50. Thing is with AK and WP is that you can't have two of the same item. And you run it so many times that you will have many chance to get it and after that it probably will stay in the coffer since everybody has it. I have full sets of gear and weapons for mnk drg brd blm and they are not even 50.

In this case I feel he should be allowed to roll Need on it also. He helped to get the item to drop. he doesn't have the item. Why shouldn't he get a chance to get it. He's not going to run just to help you get drops and he gets what? Experience(in the turn)?

It's standard practice in raiding environments in other MMOs to establish loot rules prior to starting a run. For most static groups, these loot rules go beyond just "roll need on what you need", and a master looter system is absolutely vital. I really don't understand why we don't have it.

Incidentally, if the guy agreed to the loot rules (that the other BLM would have first dibs on a particular drop) prior to starting the run, then yea - it's wrong for a person to roll on an item. This is how loot distribution has always worked. @.@

Yes.. That's how it works for static groups.. However you're picking up a random person. This person is using his only run for the week to be help you get a chance at getting other loot and him getting something for himself. There is absolutely no reason a random would run a turn with you other than for loot.. 100k compared to a BiS or damn close to is nothing. The closest crafted gear which would have to be 5x melds would be damn near 5mil at least on my server. As soon as you pick up a random person you should expect people to want the gear that drops or they wouldn't go.
Again, if the person agreed to the loot rules, then they agreed to the loot rules. It doesn't matter if you think the stipulation was stupid.

Good static group doesn't need official master loot mode, as it is easy to agree who picks what based on loot history. And master loot for one-time pugs is horrible idea, because of abuses, and every player of such have a right to roll, although getting 2 items by same player from one encounter should be allowed only if he is the only one that can use it on current class.

Not having loot master just slows things down.

SE Honors verbal agreements and keeps chat logs. So if I agree to take someone under the terms that they don't roll on a specific item if it drops on turn 2 and they agree to go on those conditions, they can't roll on it. If they do anyways, I can put in a ticket, get a GM, and get the item back. I've done it in FFXI a bunch, and they do the same thing in XIV should the need arise.

Loot Master would just solve problems like these without having to drag out a support ticket on it.

And yes, I'm talking about BCB, and any future 8 man or 24 man raids.

And to whoever was asking why is the guy rolling not on his main class.... This is a multi class game. It's very common for someone to have multiple 50's. We have a member in our group with 6 50's and full darklight on 4 of them. If someone can't make it, say a healer, they go healer and we bring a DPS. We will always have our main group members heal or tank if possible and pick up a dps instead of going the other way around. And it varies. Due to the mechanics in coil, we go with 1 melee on turn 1 and turn 2, and on turn 4 he switchs to smn. I go as warrior on turn 1 and 2 and switch to paladin for turn 4 etc.... This game is designed for multiple jobs and switching to what is required, as such loot master would help out a ton for static groups just to maintain a sense of order.

People shouldn't have to stand behind after loot drops to make sure everyone whos not getting gear is out of the turn and onto the next turn. A loot master could handle it, see who needs it, and give it to the next guy on the list in line for it. It speeds things up if anything and makes it so there is only 1 point of entry for user error.
