In all honesty, I am having hard time determining if you really believe this nonsense or if your the creator of a troll thread.
There are many people who spend the majority of their time playing the markets..they enjoy that aspect of the game..and your suggesting to simply eliminate any and all transactions including the most simple of trading.
Then there is perhaps the biggest complaint against your idea, which is the fact that not everyone wants to craft in the first place, how would forcing them into something that they view as tedious and boring be a win-win for everyone?
Sorry, the idea is dumb.
Oh right those are the same people that buy end game gear and complain there is nothing to do I presume. In all honesty, I am having hard time determining if you really believe this nonsense or if your the creator of a troll thread.

What? I have never ever complained about having nothing to do. If I had to meld my own materia for my materia quest I probably wouldn't have subbed. I'm not a lucky person and it took me 63 Garuda kills to get my Garuda weapon. I have melded many materia and never got quicktongue materia, ever. Heck, my materia rarely sells for more than 3k. You're telling me in your system I would have to meld two quicktongues not even just one when I haven't even seen one?
I'm excited for housing though worried in some ways. You're telling me I'll have to level up crafting classes that I have no desire to play and don't enjoy to play just to participate in a certain aspect? There's no sense of achievement when you buy things? Housing is going to be extremely expensive. I'm not good at making large sums of money so guess what I'm going to have to do in order to afford a house? Work for it. I've given new gear to my friends under your system this wouldn't have been possible.
No thanks.
It would do none of these. Players would pick an item to become the de-facto currency. If you've played Diablo II: Stone of Jordan. If you've played Asheron's Call, Pyreal Motes or Cracked Shards. My guess is that in XIV, it would be the elemental shards that crafters use.pros:
Everyone would have to hunt their own items to level their own crafting jobs to meld their own materia for their own relic quest.
No would would buy carries and there would be no RMT
Houses could be made through crafting instead of payed for.
Some things would take longer to accomplish keeping people subbed longer, and giving them a sense of achievement that simply doesn't exist when you just buy it, everyone wins.
-People would be paying crafters in shards.
-RMT would be selling shards (as if they aren't already)
-People would be buying carries in shards
And the other two are pretty self-explanatory.
