you pretty much hit it dead on with those 3 points- maps were not designed for jumping
- no need to implement at this moment
- people will jump around like rabbits

- maps were not designed for jumping, OMG OMG OMG, how in the world are they planning to add jobs and auto-attack then? I mean like it wasn't even designed for it. What are we going to do!
I though my point was clear enough already....
Community was calling for battle changes and jobs, (and the Final Fantasy Feel, mind you) something that would be a change in core mechanics of the game.
Jumping is not a core mechanic, you don't need jumping to progress through the game, it's story, or anything in this game's virtual world for that matter.
Jobs and auto-attack are enhancements and change to current, Already-Implemented aspects of the game. Of course, this game WAS designed for a Battle system and a sort of Class system.
If this is what they are doing (readying the maps for jump implementation), then they are doing something right.
If they added Jump right now, it wouldn't make much sense. Just like TheVedis said, it'd be adding jump just for the sake of jumping.

Except redesigning the job & battle system was of high importance and worth taking the time to do. Spending time to redesign a bunch of stuff so that certain people will be happy because they can jump....not so important.
Your point was clear, but it wasn't a good point.
Should i remind you they have separate teams working on different aspects of the game? Jumping= Map design team= no impact on the battle system team.
Yoshi-P stated in one of his posts that they are redesigning current maps(most likely finishing blocked areas too) so while they are at it they could make them jump friendly.
They could, and they are still thinking about adding jump, which I am not scared of bunny hoppers or monkeys. I don't mind if it is implemented at all, but if it is, i'd just like to know if it serves a better purpose than just for the sake of jumping.Should i remind you they have separate teams working on different aspects of the game?
