Yes you have to have a first and last name. No way to have only one. Also, they're characters, not toons. This isn't a cartoony game.

Name changes probably should have been included with the fantasias that were given out, but i don't think they should be available separately from that. Obviously if you change gender you should be able to make a name change *at the same time*, you can't really expect people to only come up with unisex names.

If there is no weight given to decisions, it causes more people to make stupid ones. People should not be able to change names on a whim. The same reasons you can't do that in real life are the same reasons why you shouldn't be able to in the game. There must be a lengthy cooldown and cost associated with it. I don't want to see a revolving door of name changes, it will only contribute to making the community more toxic. That said, I accept there are specific circumstances when a name change is absolutely necessary (as in your case).
