Since I feel it needs to be said. Character data in a database isn't going to be looked up on by the character name for f sake. If you blist someone, I would hope, it blists them by their internal id or guid such that if their name changes, they're still blisted. Having fantasia be able to change your gender but not your name seems silly. Obviously if i were to change my character to a guy, i wouldn't want to keep the name Valarice.

This definitely needs to happen. I know a lot of people, including myself, who are rethinking their names because either they found out more about the lore and rethought things once hitting end game, or they found out afterwards that there was some other meaning to the name, etc., that they want to distance themselves from.

^Truth. However, knowing the herpaderp nature of the backend that we've seen so far, I wouldn't be surprised if blisting really was keyed on player name. Lol.

What if all previous aliases were listed on a character's lodestone page? I think that could alleviate some of the concern.

They should at least let us pay for it hell I would pay $9.99 so my wife could fix her last name. In P3 she was unable to make a character on my server, When EA weekend came she was able to make one at 2am and rushed before they closed the server again she put and extra "T" lol. Didn't notice it until a week later.

Also I don't know why people are trippin about not letting other change their name. If someone wants a name change so bad they will get one. In FFXI if you wanted a name change you made a character with your current name on another server world transfer make a new name wait and then transfer back. So I'm pretty sure it will be the same for XIV except for Legacy servers have to wait 6 months. SE might as well make some cash off of name changes.

I've seen countless names that, well, aren't really names at all but words... I guess you should think harder and more long term the next time you pick one.

So you would punish people who would like to use the Fantasia potion they were giving?
Also since Rogadyn names are just words, can't really say that's not people thinking of names. Not all of them are of course but don't assume just because you see a Hyur with a noun name that he doesn't have an RP/backstory reason behind it.
